Apr 17, 2018 - Sky City Casino RV Park

. Leaving Monument Valley, Utah, we traveled southeast to Acoma Pueblo, New Mexico. With bad winter weather still blocking our way back north to Minnesota, we needed a place with good weather to stay for a few days. Winds were gusting in the 20 mph range, but much of it was at our back for the 325 mile trip. The Sky City Casino RV Park was well rated, and the $20 a night fee with hookups was attractive. . Arriving late Saturday afternoon, I stood in line at the reservation desk with several other RVers checking in, including one fellow...

Sep 22, 2017 - Acoma Pueblo NM – Sky City Casino Campground

Stopped here for the night. Tried their seafood buffet for dinner and it was excellent. Crab legs and boiled shrimp were top notch. Missing my niece, Melissa, though. She and I used to go to Red Lobster and pig out on crab legs when she was still in Buckeye. I could sure have used her help eating all the crab legs on the buffet. Roger just sat there and laughed at me. That restaurant went through a ton of crab legs tonight. Everyone but Rog was eating them.

Jun 4, 2017 - Acoma Pueblo NM – Sky City Casino Campground

Heading east, we stopped at Sky City for a couple of nights. Ate at the casino restaurant a couple of nights. I lost $5 of Roger’s money playing video poker. (I conveniently left my purse in the camper.) I think Roger actually won 20 cents or something like that. He lost on a slot machine, but won it back on video poker.

Sep 13, 2016 - Acoma Pueblo NM – Sky City Casino Campground

Well, we really did it today. We went back to Moriarity NM after leaving Jack’s Creek Campground to take another look at the Arctic Fox 5th wheel we had seen there. We just couldn’t get it off our minds. As you can probably guess, we liked it even more when we saw it again and so we ordered one. So, next year, we’ll be pulling a new 5th wheel. If you want to see it, Google Arctic Fox 5th wheels. We ordered the 29.5-T. Now, all we have to do is find a buyer for our Hitchhiker! (Too bad we didn’t hit the jackpot tonight when we went to the...

Retired at Last!

Jul 13, 2016 - Sky City RV park - Acoma, NM

Today we went from Amarillo, Tx to Acoma, Nm. We traveled about 340 miles and we were glad when it was over. While we were passing thru Albuquerque there was an extension ladder in our lane. There were semi's on both sides, so we went over the ladder. We hit it with all 10 tires, at 60 mph. So far we don't see any damage, but it was just a little stressful. Ps - the ladder is really flat now.

2016 Southwest

Oct 6, 2015 - Rainy drive

Got up and had a good breakfast. Today we will be traveling. This morning we have a light rain while I am closing up and disconnecting the coach, just enough to get mildly damp. Our tanks were emptied yesterday so I do not have to do that, so it was fairly quick packing it up. We checked out of the RV park, hooked up the car, and we were on our way. We are traveling I-40 from Flagstaff to Acoma, New Mexico. About a half hour after starting out we came to an off ramp that had a Safeway and a McDonalds. The first was for some groceries that...

Oct 13, 2014 - We're in New Mexico!

We spent last night in Flagstaff, Arizona @ Black Barts RV Park. Quite a quirky place. It is right by the Truck stop, and has a steak house too (called Black Barts steakhouse, of course). I went down and checked it out and the prices were pretty high. So we had spaghetti for dinner instead, in celebration of making it through the "spaghetti bowl" in Las Vegas that morning without a mishap. (Everyone was still asleep when we went through, I think.) Last night it was supposed to be 34 degrees. The heat pump came on many times and it was...

Heading to the East!

Apr 25, 2014 - Acoma New Mexico

First pictures were taken in Cloudcroft NM, population about 700, it's about 150 miles from Anthony NM and El Paso, it's a lot cooler there, 9000 feet and has trees, you can see White Sands from there. Our Good Sams directions to Acoma NM took us up I-25 to Rt. 6 which kept us from going thru Albuquerque, this was the most beautiful drive with little traffic, at one point we were riding along side a Amtrak train and about a 1/4 mile over from the Amtrak was a freight train. We are now in Acoma NM, staying at a Acoma Indian campground, we...

2014 adventures

Jun 18, 2013 - Gallup, NM to Sky City Casino, Acoma, NM

Started the day by checking out the route that S&T had planned for us to get to I-40 again. Am I glad we did? One of the hills was almost straight down. I wasn't sure the pickup was going to make it up the hill. So we went back the way we came in – it was a little longer but no steep hills. We headed east on I-40 and decided to make it a short trip today. My stomach is queasy and wind was making the rig rock and roll. Not a good combo. So I convinced Ron to stop at the 102 exit after starting at the 22. We stopped at Sky City Casino at...

Summer 2013 Travels

Oct 4, 2012 - Sky City Rv Park and Casino

Oct.3, 2012 We were up early to get an early start because we were going about 320 miles and we lose an hour when we cross time zones in New Mexico. We made a stop for a small amount of fuel in Winslow, enough to get us to Gallup, NM where fuel would be cheaper. As we crossed into New Mexico, we stopped at the rest stop/visitor center to get more paper….brochures and to have lunch. We got back on the road as we were approaching Gallup looking for the Flying-J gas station and after we were past Gallup Margaret called to tell us we would be...

FRIDAY & SATURDAY: Acoma, NM This was a very long day!!! We were up and used the campground shower as our bathtub is still full of coolers. It isn't easy cramming two house hold refrigerator/freezers full of stuff into an RV fridge. So for the first week we have a cooler with stuff in it. Anyway after a nice long, hot shower we packed up and hit the road. The first stop was for gas at the next door station. It was an easy in and out and we had a coupon for 10 cents off per gallon. We had no trouble during the trip and we had set it up for...
