Jul 15, 2013 - A Tour of the Island

Joe and Patty took us on a tour of Long Beach Island on Monday. I read there are 20,000 full time residents on the island, but it swells to 100,000 in the summer. However, many people go home to the mainland during the week to work so we decided to do most of our driving around on Monday when the traffic was noticably diminished. Our first stop was Barnegat Light. We walked to the top on circular stairs. I've been doing a lot of exercising and losing weight for the past nine months. RV Trip North 2013

Jul 14, 2013 - Sunday at the Shore

We had a perfect day at the Shore on Sunday. We went to church with Patty and Joe and then had brunch at their house. We spent the afternoon at Smithville which is on the mainland. It is a collection of old buildings that have been brought together for shops, restaurants and B & B's. We bought a few things, took a train ride on a miniature train and came upon a baby rabbit and then a little while later a mama chicken with her little chicks. We went back to Long Beach Island and had dinner at a seafood restaurant owned by Patty's cousin....

Jul 13, 2013 - Gone Fishing

We had two full days of rain in Cape May, unfortunately. We were grateful that our campsite didn’t flood and we stayed dry inside so all is well, but we did miss out on an opportunity to see the lighthouse and boardwalk of Cape May. Saturday morning we headed north on the Garden State Parkway. Our destination was Surf City on Long Beach Island to visit our friends, Joe and Patty Buck.
