(Sandi writing) A friendly couple from Canada, who were leaving New York City early, gave us their tickets to a Skyline cruise. So, we started our morning with that cruise. We were able to see the Statue of Liberty close up...due to the government shutdown, no one could get onto the island. The skyline view of Manhattan from the Hudson River was very impressive. We eventually traveled by foot, bus, and subway to Wall Street, then the Rockefeller Center. Again, with tired feet, we are back at the hotel, trying to figure out if we will spend...

Sep 30, 2013 - Meriden, CT to Secaucus, NJ

(Sandi writing) Again, thank goodness for our Garmin. Ron has named her "Trudy", because she is always true and correct about her directions. It wasn't easy getting through New York City, across the river to New Jersey. We did miss one quick turn and again spent another 30 minutes getting back on track. But good ole Trudy always re-calculates and gets us back on the right route. We decided to stay in New Jersey, where the prices are more within our budget. Mar 19, 2009 - The trek begins.......

Today was the day that i met my fellow travellers! There are some great people on the trek and i have been lucky! Lucy form London, Flo from Bristol, Jenny from Wales, Kerry from newcastle, Kristina from Croatia, Michelle from Kent and two couples - Aiden and Melissa and Laura and Lee! We spent most of today travelling from New Jersey to Washington Dc. We are staying in a hostel in the city (11th street and k). We explored the City at saw the Whitehouse - it was amazing!
