Darryl arrived in Point Pleasant, New Jersey on a not so pleasant day. The weather was cold and windy with lows in the mid 30's. He braved the frigid weather and began the daunting task of unloading the 8 foot tall box. After working 10 to 12 hours a day for a solid week, the box was empty, the boat had new engine parts, a beautiful galley in the salon, 2 new tables, an amazing swim step, running water, new instruments....and lots more. Mar 26, 2012 - Chapter One - The BOX

We never planned to go to New Jersey. In fact, we never planned to go to the East Coast. BUT....Darryl found the perfect boat - a 34 foot Baja Cruiser which needed our TLC! The fact that it was in New Jersey was an added bonus. And so the idea of our great adventure was born. Darryl and I will cruise the Atlantic in the First Light starting in Point Pleasant,New Jersey, ending in Florida and going EVERYWHERE in between. Sep 4, 2006 - Asbury Park - New Jersey

Ok, So why did we come all this way and end up in a place very few people have heard of. 2 words...Bruce Springsteen. He started his career here and still lives in the area to this day. Jon Bon Jovi also lives in this area and plays occasionally so it was like icing on the cake. Ed has dreamed of coming here since she was 11, so it had to be on our list of things to do. Oct 4, 2005 - Our first time on the Ocean in Diamond Lil

SWITCH TO NEW JERSEY MAP The only part of the entire trip from home down to Florida that requires passage of open water (ie the Atlantic Ocean) is the 26 miles stretch from New York Harbour to the Manasquan Inlet in New Jersey. Luckily we awoke to a gorgeous, calm morning and our first ocean passage was a delight with the surface smooth and a gentle, comfortable swell. We entered the Manasquan inlet where the Atlantic ICW follows the Manasquan River for 4 1/2 miles to Point Pleasant Canal. I was surprised at the beauty of the New Jersey...
