Today is the final prep day for our trip. Doing laundry for items needed for the trip, ironing, and double checking the travel packing lists. Just received the text @11:17 that we can check-in for our flight to Los Angeles and everything is a go for our 10:00 AM departure from Newark Liberty International Airport tomorrow. We had the buffet breakfast, and returned to the room to finish packing. We relaxed and read in the room until 10:30. As we were checking out of the hotel, I informed the girl at the front desk that one of the walls on the left of the bathroom door was unfinished. It was just sheet rock. Obviously when they were doing their renovations someone forgot to finish that wall in our room. It was a short ride (under 5 mile) to the Hertz Car Rental Return at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. I informed the return guy who came over to check...Jump to full entry
Aug 13, 2018 - Adams Historic Site, PEZ & Home!
Today was an on again, off again rainy day. We went down for the hot/cold breakfast buffet about 8:00. They only had western style eggs, for which Jean & I do not care. So we enjoyed the waffles instead. We started at the Adams National Historical Park Visitors Center. We had gotten a little lost and missed the first tour by about 15 minutes when we arrived. So we obtained our 10:15 tour tickets for free since Jean had her Senior National Parks Pass. Sep 7, 2014 - If not me, then who....
"If not me, then who" were the words spoken by 1st Lt. Travis Manion at a Monday Night Football game just before he headed to Fallujah, Iraq for his second and final combat tour. The words inspired his friend and Naval Academy roommate Lt. Brendan Looney as he went through SEAL training. Looney was to loose his life in Afghanistan in 2010. The "Brothers Forever" are buried side by side in Arlington National Cemetery. The account of the story is told in Travis Manion's father's book "Brothers Forever.
