Sep 9, 2012 - Day 1 In Jersey City / NYC
We were so excited to meet up with our co-workers/friends from Alamo Palms, Dave and Jackie for our NYC tour. They had traveled from Ohio, where they spend the summer and were heading to Texas after the tour. Our official tour of NYC did not start until 2:30 in the afternoon. So we were out and talking with some of the couples in our tour in the morning. This tour had 27 RV's signed up with 2 people each. It was fun that everyone on the tour were in motor homes. We all had something in common. The latest was trying to get to the RV park...

Aug 1, 2012 - Finally, Back on the Road
WE ARE BACK ON THE ROAD! And thrilled about it! I haven’t done an update to the journal since we left California in March to find treatment for Buzz’s bladder cancer. We did not know what we would hear for sure when we got back to Florida, but knew that the carefree days of fulltime motorhoming had definitely hit a snag. The trip back was as quick as we could make it, sticking to the I-10 all the way from California to Florida, then home to Ponce Inlet to find out what lay ahead. The doctors in Daytona did further tests and recommended...

Jun 30, 2012 - Jersey City, NJ - Liberty Harbor RV Park
It was just 127 miles from New Castle, DE to Jersey City, NJ but it wasn't a pleasant ride. The first 40 miles or so was pretty and relaxing but as soon as we approached Trenton, the traffic increased and then we got on the New Jersey Turnpike and it was under construction almost the whole rest of the way - not a fun area to travel through. The trip took about three hours so we arrived a little after 11:30 and quickly checked in started getting into our site. Like I said in the last post we are staying at Liberty Harbor RV Park, which is a...

Jun 27, 2012 - Liberty Landing - Jersey City, NJ & NY
Four and a half days allowed us to spend an afternoon with Maggie's cousins and their families -- Anne with hubby John and son Tom, Rosemary with Hubby Frank. Anne lives not far away in New Jersey. Tom lives in the Boston area. Rosemary lives in Skokie, just north of Chicago. Holleh lives in Libertyville, IL. It was a nice visit but too short for the cousins. Wish we had more time together but happy the event happened at all. Before Maggie's hand accident it was planned that we would have been there a few days earlier to attend a BBQ in...

Jun 12, 2012 - New Jersey
Hi All, It's been awhile I know, been too busy or tired to get back into this. Believe it or not it does take a lot of time. I asked Jim if he wanted to put in his two cents, of course he said "no". I guess he just wants me to be the ass, like I said before I am not a good creative writer. As far as our trip to NY we stayed on the Jersey side,it was and I believe is the only RV park in the area for miles if any. It's not the best park but it was convenient and close to the subway stations. First day out was easy, we took a ferry to Ellis...

Apr 22, 2012 - DC - Day 13: WTC
Wet, cold, bedraggled… that’s how we felt returning to our home this afternoon. It was drizzling this morning when we left to catch the PATH subway (Port Authority Transportation-Hudson) to get to the city. Five blocks from the campground is Grove Station which goes directly to the World Trade Center . We’d made arrangements to meet Eady there. She’s an old friend of Ralph’s who lives in Brooklyn and was nice enough to get our passes to the memorial. On the train we talked with Leah, who lives in NJ but hailed originally from Kentucky. All...

Apr 21, 2012 - DC - Day 12: Ellis Island & Statue of Liberty
Walk up Marin Blvd. to the 1st light. Take a right onto a foot path. The path will take you to Essex Street. Go one more block straight to Warren St. Make a right onto Warren St. Follow Warren St. down to the water. Those directions began our trip this morning at 10:30. Once at the waterfront we had only a short wait for the Liberty Park Ferry. It runs across the river about 100 yards. Leaving that ferry, we were at Liberty Park; a quarter mile walk took us to the Statue Cruises Ferry terminal where there was an Earth Day event going on....

Apr 20, 2012 - DC - Day 11: On the road to New Jersey
Leaving Cherry Hill this morning was a sad time. We pulled out at the same time our neighbors, Beth and Brian, left. As usual, Ralph drove and I navigated. The trip wasn't too bad - left Maryland, entered Delaware, then New Jersey. All went well until we tried to find the campground. We wound up on the wrong side of the harbor so we had a an interesting time navigating streets until we found it. Then the office couldn't locate our reservation - I miss Cherry Hill!!! After we got the computer and pulled up our confirmation, she found it -...

Oct 16, 2011 - New York City
We left campground around 10 am and took I95, our destination Jersey City just across the Hudson River from New York City. We came to a crawl on the freeway just as we were arriving in the Bronx area, were actually stopped at times for construction or stalled cars. We eventually arrived at the Liberty Harbour RV & Marine Park. Parking lot type campground but didn’t expect anything else so close to NYC. None of the 50 serviced sites were available so we parked in overflow with no services but the bathrooms are clean and we are comfortable....

Jul 22, 2011 - Summer RV Trip to New England - (Jersey City, NJ)
Today was a terrible day. It was bright and sunny – way to bright and sunny. In the morning, Gary went outside for a short time to take a picture of the Statue of Liberty. 110722-04-Jersey City, NJ – Liberty Harbor Marina and RV Park - View to The Statue of Liberty When he returned he had a pretty good headache from the very bright sunshine and the early morning heat. The weather forecast called only for more heat! We decided that we would stay around the motor home. As it turned out, Newark, NJ (where we were really parked) set a high...

Jul 21, 2011 - Summer RV Trip to New England - (Jersey City, NJ)
Another travel day today but the GPS said it would be just 155 miles and should take us 3 hours and 5 minutes – sometimes the GPS lies. We left Wales, MA at 9:00 AM and finally arrived at the Liberty Harbor Marina and RV Park in Jersey City, NJ at 2:00 PM after a tough drive. The problem again was the George Washington Bridge! The Griffin’s told us about this RV Park and described getting here in detail in their notes – we were a little concerned but had no problems. The park is located on the Hudson River just across from the Statue of...

Oct 3, 2010 - Day Twenty Two - New York City
Hello Everybody, Up early we moved our van into the real RV park, before getting ready and walking five blocks to the PATH train for the 20 minute trip into Manhattan. The train dropped us off at 33rd Street, just opposite Macy’s and we then walked up to Times Square for a quick look and of course a bundle of photo’s. We then looked for a place to have lunch and we decided on an Irish pub aptly named “the Irish pub”, we where served by surprisingly an Irish chick who could not really suggest what to eat as she hadn’t tries anything, so I...
