May 15, 2018 - Flanders, NJ

Tue, 15 May: Final road day for a while, and it was a Doozie... According to our well-thought-out plans today was supposed to be a "chip shot". A quick 45 miles on I 80 into New Jersey and our destination, FlaNet RV Park in Flanders NJ. Well, we all know the adage about "best laid plans..." and today was no exception. We got the coach ready for the road. Bob pulled Carpe out of her spot and moved to a large gravel area where we connected our tow car, Carpe Dinkum. It took almost ten minutes to wend our way thru the Thousand Trails park's...

Sep 23, 2013 - Linden, NJ

Day 42 - Flanders, NJ 9/23/2013 We spent the day driving to Linden, looking for flags for the gravesites and working on cleaning up the both sides of the headstone. The headstone next door had ivy covering half the stone, it had creeped over to our headstone. I am guessing that no one has been there since Uncle Joe died in 2011. I took after pictures to show you. We still have some bulbs on our side that will come up in the spring. I am guessing that the iris' on the other side will eventually come around the corner to dad's side. I am not...

Day 41 - Flanders, NJ 9/22/2013 We thought we were going to have a fairly easy drive today. It was the first day in quite awhile that we were on freeway most of the day. Boy were we wrong, it probably was the worst day! There were at least two accidents ahead of us, slowing us to a crawl for miles on end, We were arriving late, so I called Terry and Uncle Glenn to let them know. Terry was fixing dinner for us, I didn't want it ruined. We were also headed to the hospital to see Uncle Don. Well, because of the lateness, we ended up bring the...

May 7, 2011 - Flanders, NJ

Sat, 07 May: We left Tom Schaeffer's RV in Shoemakersville a bit before ten. The folks at Tom Schaeffer's couldn't have been nicer or more efficient. They're definitely RV "Good Guys"! We drove the short (105 miles) distance from Shoemakersville to Flanders, NJ in about two hours. Our route included PA 61, I 78, PA 33, PA 209, and finally I 80. Traffic thru Allentown and Bethlehem was tolerable (but we sure wish those folks would learn to merge!) The drive north to Stroudsburg was a pleasure, until we merged onto I 80. Bob was remarking how...
