Oct 23, 2012 - Day 100 - in Atlantic City, NJ
We had a lazy morning then went into May`s Landing to check out the shopping centers, Kohl`s, Macy`s, Target, JCPenney and had a late lunch at Applebees. We went back to the campsite so Garry could spend half an hour re-caulking the roof seal on the motorhome before the next rain. Two hours later, that job done, he got the cable TV system working as our satelitte TV was not connecting and Bell Mobility would not provide any help as we were not in Canada. We had supper and watched TV for the first time since Canada.

Oct 22, 2012 - Day 99 - Atlantic City and New Jersey Shore
On advice from the campground owner, we went into Gardiner's Basin in Atlantic City to Scales for brunch. It was a lovely place, right on the water, near the harbour. We decided to drive down the Jersey Shore to Cape May to check out the possibility of taking the ferry to reduce our drive to Washington, DC. The area appeared to be "normal" middle class homes for the most part, lovely yards and Halloween decorations. The beach areas were long and well maintained, very highly populated. Many bridges from mainland to outer islands. We...

Oct 21, 2012 - Day 98 - from Clinton, Conn to Atlantic City, New Jersey
We headed out from Riverdale Farm Campsite about 10:00 am, stopped at the Service Rest Area to fuel up and enjoy a MacDonald's breakfast. We got advice from the staff at the campground to get around New York City as we had heard that I95 through NYC, especially George Washington Bridge, would be a challenge with the motorhome. They suggested that we take I287 through White Plains, New York, by the Oranges and Newark to reconnect with I95 south of the city. We followed instructions and then took a cut-off highway to the Atlantic City...

Oct 20, 2012 - Back in the USA: Atlantic City
I'm still traveling. I spent most of October in Atlantic City, New Jersey in the historic Ritz Carlton (not a hotel any longer but a condominium now.) Reasons: 1. The fun of experiencing life in the famous Ritz. 2. One of the best places for easy public transportation (I don't have a car) 3. Atlantic City entertainment and casino's. 4. Beautiful beaches. 5. Great outlet shopping. The off season in Atlantic City is very affordable, if you don't loose too much in the casinos. Transportation to major east coast cities like Philadelphia and New...

Dec 17, 2011 - Four States in One Day (New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia)
We left Atlantic City and drove an hour to Cape May to catch the ferry across the Delaware to Lewes. Another English place name, there are so many in the US. No problem getting on the ferry, which could carry 100 cars and 800 passengers. It was relatively quiet so we got a decent seat. The tannoy announcement said it would be a medium to rough crossing, eek! I spent the 80 mins nose deep in my kindle not daring to move for fear of feeling sea sick, whilst Ray fell asleep. I took a peek out the window and could see the sea one side and the...

Dec 16, 2011 - Atlantic City and the blackjack fetish
So, leaving New York was a bark but at least we had Atlantic City to look froward to. We wanted to go there only because of the Soprano's and more particularly Boardwalk Empire. To be honest it wasn't a good start, there are so many toll roads in New Jersey that we started and stopped about 6 times although each toll was only about $1 it was a pain in the arse. Atlantic City itself is obviously a place to be in the Summer rather than in the middle of winter and it did look a bit tired and gaudy with all these dodgy characters wandering...

Oct 18, 2011 - Atlantic City, New Jersey
October 17 New Jersey is one of the most densely populated states an it shows on the roads. We took I95 then the Garden State Parkway, lots of tolls roads in New Jersey and finally arrive at Shady Pines RV Resort in Galloway, near Atlantic City. We are staying here for three nights. The first thing I needed to do after three days of no services was some trailer cleaning. Later we drove around Atlantic city and out on the beach. Stopped at the Trump Taj Mahal for supper then walked along the Boardwalk, it was a beautiful warm sunny...

Oct 11, 2011 - Final Days...
October 8 - 11 The feeling was with me all along the BRP that we were headed home so have been in end of trip thinking all that time. It hit me more once we came off Skyline Drive and went from single lane country road to multi lane highway. We were back in the city again. As we have both been to Washington DC before there was nothing we wanted to do in that city. Apart from seeing George Washington’s Estate at Mt Vernon (see previous posting) we wanted to check out the Air & Space museum at Dulles Airport. This is an amazing place that...

Oct 10, 2011 - Atlantic City
We are back posting on the journal. We had a few days of no internet services but we are up and rolling again. Well, after seeing everything we could find in the Niagara Falls area we headed out for Atlantic City, NJ to see if we could break the banks at the casinos on the boardwalk. That didn't happen but we had a good time anyway. Oh yeah, Ray won $40 but, Frances took it. Easy come easy go. Frances won $50 but lost $80, don't think that adds up to wining! We took a day trip into New York City and saw a few of the sites (to big to see all...

Oct 9, 2011 - Last day in Atlantic City
From Harrah's Hotel/Casino - Atlantic City, NJ Sunday, October 09, 2011 Today was a rather lazy day; we met Skipper and Carolyn for the brunch buffet about 10:00 a.m. We talked about going back to the boardwalk to check out some of the other casinos, but decided to stay here at Harrah's in order to watch the Texans game at 1:00 p.m. After brunch, we each went our separate ways, some in search of a friendly game and Lady Luck and others to their rooms to read and relax for awhile. I took a stroll out to the pool area and checked out some of...

Oct 8, 2011 - Goodbye Mohegan Sun, Hello Harrah's
From Mohegan Sun parking lot - Thursday, October 06, 2011 - We met Skipper and Carolyn for breakfast in Tuscany Restaurant before leaving Mohegan Sun bound for Atlantic City, NJ. Skipper and Carolyn joined us in the motorhome for the 250 mile drive to Atlantic City where we both have rooms at Harrah's Casino/Hotel. We'll park the motorhome in their extra parking lot and stay in the hotel; after three weeks on the road, a full size bath will be such a luxery! The drive took us almost six hours and the roads were horrible, HORRIBLE, the worst...
