Sep 29, 2012 - The quest continues

North Conway, NH. In our pursuit of fall foliage at its peak, we traveled west across Maine into New Hampshire. We had been experiencing beautiful weather but today we had a light rain instead of abundant sunshine. The weather did not deter us from making numerous stops as we traveled. We visited the Maine version of Paul Bunyan. He was supposedly originally from Maine. We also found a Farmer’s Market and later stopped at a farm selling tons of colorful pumpkins. We even stopped to view a very tall statue of an Indian and viewed a covered...

Sep 15, 2011 - North Conway, New Hampshire

During our spring rally in Niagara Falls it was decided to plan a fall rally at North Conway, New Hampshire. Tuesday morning we started a three trailer convoy from Ontario, heading east to Prescott and then over the border into New York. Our first night was at Massena, a campground that we first visited a couple of years ago. Day Two saw us pass into Vermont and finally New Hampshire. We had to make several detours because of road closures as a result of damage from Hurricane Irene. The campground here in North Conway was completely flooded...

Oct 3, 2010 - White Mountain trail

After a nice dinner on Saturday night with Leo and Carol at the Red Parka Pub, we knew there was more of the White Mountain trail to drive on, so Sunday off we went to the Kancamagus Highway. There are many scenic overlooks on this beautiful drive. We enjoyed getting out and walking at Lower Falls in awe of the power of the water. We drove through Franconia Notch State Park, which is a spectacular mountain pass with many places to pull off for hiking trails or scenery views. The real surprise of the day was The Flume Gorge. Not really...

East Coast Trip 2010

Oct 2, 2010 - Conway,NH

When Joe's brother, Leo, heard we would be driving through Wiscasset, Maine, he said we had to stop at Red's Eats and have the best lobster roll in Maine and probably the world. So we spotted it as we came over the bridge into town-a little take-out diner with a long line waiting to order their food. Unfortunately there was no place to park, so we drove on until we found a Baptist church with a big parking lot. The best lobster roll sounded pretty good to us-no we aren't tired of it yet-and we asked permission to park there, unhook the...

East Coast Trip 2010

Jun 20, 2010 - New Hampshire

www.sacorivercampingarea.com We got here on Friday, June 18, 2010 Site 25. The weather got so much better than it was in Standish Maine! We are enjoying sun and warmth, and what I have been waiting for, THE POOL! Wow! I love a good swim to cool off! Over all opinion of the campground is very good. Meaning the road to the pool is flat so it is an easy ride on the bike to get over there. The atmosphere is pleasant. Dogs are being good, sort of. Metro goes bonkers at the sight of another dog and that is kind of maddening. But we are working...

Bizzybody's Travels

Oct 2, 2009 - North Conway, New Hampshire

For the past two days we drove a highway where the fall colors can be seen, took a train along the same valley, and then took a cog train up to the top of Mt. Washington. We ate out a lot also, and I've pretty much used up our food budget. We did get one meal in a german restaurant that that had a great chef and the food was the best food I've ever had. The bill for Susan and I was $60 but it was worth it. Be sure not to skip the pictures as they are what this whole trip is about.

Sep 27, 2008 - Day 168 North Conway NH

Day 168 Saturday 27th September North Conway NH pg 45 G8 Having been given a lot of information yesterday on the surrounding White Mountain Byways Trail we headed south this morning on Rte 16. The colours just take your breath away, around ever turn in the road is another stretch of amazing colour, really the camera doesn’t do it justice. Then just when we thought we’d seen the best, we arrived at the Mt Washington area. We approached the Toll booth and inquired about driving the RV up the mountain, with a firm “no” due to the road being...

Sep 17, 2008 - White Mountains, NH

On Wednesday we woke to a gorgeous, sunny, clear blue day with temperatures in the 70s. We drove about 40 miles north into the White Mountain region of New Hampshire and settled in to a nice campground that seemed to have fewer mosquitoes than our last one. I was not sure my legs could take anymore bites after what they had endured in Meredith. Our campground was a few miles from the famous Kancamagus Highway (or “the Kanc” as it is called by the locals). The Kanc links the town of Conway at one end with the town of Lincoln on the other....

Jul 23, 2008 - New England (and the rain!)

‘Team Geoff and Melissa’ were back on the road after a great time in Boston! We picked up our nearly brand new car first thing Sunday morning (loved the cruise control!) and headed north through to Maine. We called into Salem (witch place) and had a walk around. Interesting... We then drove up the coast to Higgins Beach which is just south of Portland. The drive was brilliant. I didn’t realise how many lovely beaches there were along the way. Being the height of summer the beaches were packed even though the weather had turned and was...

Oct 10, 2007 - Brunswick to Portland to North Conway - Hello to old friends!

Timing is everything, and that includes timing fall foliage for its peak. It appears that we have timed it perfectly, as peak foliage will arrive in Vermont this weekend - and guess where we will be? Vermont, of course. One might think this is accidental - but nothing is accidental when it comes to Marty's timing. He hits the jackpot everytime. I think I'll send him to Vegas! Everyone raves about peak folliage. Well, let me be the first to say that what leads up to peak isn't exactly chopped liver. The colors are breathtaking as we drive to...

Jun 19, 2007 - New Hampshire & The White Mountains

One-hundred-fifty miles southeast of Burlington is the White Mountain National Forest of New Hampshire. As we were making our way across New Hampshire the beauty of the forest captured our attention. Several ski resorts dot the mountain sides. Only a two hour drive from Burlington we felt compelled to stop and stay a couple days before heading on to Acadia Maine. We found camp in North Conway on the Saco River. Our neighbors, Harry and Tova, had traveled up from Florida and were pulling a trailer carrying their Harley motorcycles. Naturally...
