Oct 1, 2012 - Conway, NH
The rain finally stopped, so we went for a drive today to see some foliage. It is still a few days to a week from peak here in New Hampshire, but we did see some pretty sights. We drove up to Cathedral Ridge outside of Conway at the recommendation of the campground office, and though we got a little lost getting there, it was definitely worth the frustration...what a gorgeous view! Then we took a drive along the part of the Kancamagus Highway that we didn't take a week or so ago when we were in New Hampshire. It's amazing how much more...

Sep 30, 2012 - Conway, NH
Today was a washout! It rained all day, and I am trying to fight a bad cold before it gets worse. Didn't even see anything of the neighbors, as it was just a good day to hunker down and stay inside. I wrapped myself up in a blanket and caught up on some TV shows I recorded. Now it's early to bed after a good dose of Nyquil and hope tomorrow is a better day :) No photos today.

Sep 29, 2012 - Boothbay Harbor, ME to Conway, NH
Well, we're not the only ones who have technical problems. This morning I heard voices nearby and looked out the window to see Ray up on a ladder trying to do something to the awning above their door. Next time I looked I saw Ray on the ladder and Cindy up on the roof. Then it was Ray on the roof and Cindy on the ladder - back and forth! Seems they had a problem retracting the awning mechanically and had to take things into their own hands, which did not work out exactly as the manual's instructions implied. Then Dan got into the act and...

Aug 27, 2012 - Last two days
Not too much exciting the last two days, other than arriving home. Sunday we drove interstate from Houlton to Augusta, Maine. We don't usually do interstate driving - we prefer secondary roads to get a feel of the region. However, we were familiar with Maine, and trees are trees, so felt it was the quickest way from point A to point B. Our goal was Camper's World in Conway, New Hampshire, and we made it much sooner than we anticipated. Gary had a ball spending his Camper's World Gift Card! Jean picked up a newer Good Sam Campsite book in...

Aug 15, 2010 - Hiking, Biking, and Shopping
The day started out with a triathlon, but that’s not the highlight of the day. The best part of the day was our dinner with our hiking buddies, so I’ll start with that. Herb, Dwight, and Geoff traversed the Presidential Range and returned to Pinkham Notch to tell the tale. After we dropped the boys off at Crowford Notch last Wednesday, they made the slow, difficult climb to Mizpah Springs Hut. They apparently arrived at the hut just minutes after we left. Sorry we missed them. The next 2 days, they were on the ridge above timberline as...

Aug 7, 2010 - We're Home
We're home. 15,470 miles and we had ourselves one heck of a time but boy does it seem nice to be in our own home. Wifi was patchy so we didn't have any posts. The last stop in Pa, at a lovely KOA said wifi and in your camper, however, it didn't work for me in or out, and I wasn't walking that distance to the office, the park was huge. We had a little truck trouble the last two days. The ABS light kept coming on and off, so we stopped at a Ford Dealership, they had no time to look at it, but thought it was maybe the alternator. Bob...

Oct 12, 2009 - The White Mountains in Blazing Colour
Officially, we are what is known as 'Leaf Peepers' - and there are thousands of us out here on this long, Columbus Day weekend. We left the dealership in Auburn, Maine around Noon a couple of days ago, amid fond fairwells to a very pleasant staff and, of course, Enzo the Portuguese waterdog. The place had become so familiar, as had we to the staff, and I was beginning to feel quite at home there! :) Sadly, it turns out that the dealership, like so many others, is really suffering with the economic downturn and many staff have already been...

9/27-29/2009 Beach Family Camping Area Campground, N. Conway, NH This campground is on the Saco River. We have the best view here of any of the places we've been so far. It rained all day Sunday, but the camper was nice and toasty. It's nice having your house with you, no matter where we are it always feels like home inside. Monday was sunny and we drove the scenic highway around the Mt. Washington Valley. Very pretty. Stopped to see some waterfalls along the way. Then stopped at the Mt. Washington Resort. Beautiful place built in 1902....

Sep 19, 2009 - Kancamagus Highway
Today, we decided to tour the Kancamagus Highway or The Kank as it is affectionately known around New Hampshire. It is one of the recommended tours while visiting the White Mountain area and we decided it was such a beautiful day for a drive, so we packed a picnic lunch and headed out. -- Last night, it was a little bit nippy and the wind was blowing mightily. We couldn't stop wondering what it was like on top of Mount Washington, so on our way south this morning, we stopped in at the tour office to check. From the parking lot, we got a...

Well the Tall ship boat tour went well. It was cool but they saw porpoise, seals and Minke whales. They were out in the Bay of Funday for 3 hours and really enjoyed it. They didn't leave Saint Andrews until 2:00 so they only made it to Conway, New Hampshire. Their following Maggie as she says this is the shortest distance. If you forgot who Maggie is she's the GPS. I would hope they get back into Ontario today.

Oct 11, 2008 - White Mountains in New Hampshire
We are staying in New Hampshire for a week in the White Mountains. Driving from Maine to New Hampshire this time of year in the Fall, is beautiful. The colors are so amazing. We did a hike to Artist Bluff and Bald mountain. Which at the top of the mountain you can see forever, The reds, yellows, and the view of the Cannon Mountain Ski Resort. The Next day we had to go see where the Old Man in the Mountain use to be. It collapsed a few years back. We ended up doing another hike through the Canopy of yellow trees. It felt like they were...
