Oct 19, 2009 - N. Conway & Jackson, NH
The drive today was 500 + miles (due to time constraints via tollway, not our usual path) thru up state NY, VT, & NH countryside. And pumpkins, and apples, and I think these folks have expanded Halloween into a major industry with all kinds of faux people with pumpkin heads standing around in peoples yards doing whatever!!! Simply amazing! We arrive at Jodie's just past 6 and after just a brief pit stop head for Maureen & Sumner's place in Jackson where we are staying. ... Jodie's place has not changed during the intervening years (4,5?), just a bit more crowded is all.The drive today was 500 + miles (due to time constraints via tollway, not our usual path) thru up state NY, VT, & NH countryside. Oct 12, 2009 - The White Mountains in Blazing Colour
Officially, we are what is known as 'Leaf Peepers' - and there are thousands of us out here on this long, Columbus Day weekend. At the lower South-East corner of the Park is the town of Conway from which a train runs once a day on the Conway Scenic Railway. ... As we made our way northwards, we were playing leapfrog with the train: first a sighting at a bridge over a little river, then at a road crossing, then when the train was high above us on a trestle on the side of a mountain.Officially, we are what is known as 'Leaf Peepers' - and there are thousands of us out here on this long, Columbus Day weekend.
