Jun 14, 2013 - Orem, Utah...
Well, our time with Mom & Lori has finally come to an end. We really enjoyed our time together and were able to 'do' some of the stuff they needed done. We tried to convince Mom to ride along with us for a week or two but she decided she better stick around home. Maybe next year. We'd love to share South Dakota with her and know she would love it as much as we do. Everything went smoothly this morning and the weather was great for a travel day. We got out of town around noon and after traveling about 250 miles arrived in Orem, Utah about...

Jun 13, 2013 - Toontown...
Today's pics are of Mickey's Toontown, an interactive metropolis full of topsy turvy architecture and screwy sculptures. The kids loved this fun land which featured all sorts of cartoon gags and gadgets as well as rides and attractions designed just for them. We enjoyed the amazing lines and detail, as evidenced by the fact that there are NO straight lines in any of the designs here. It was fun visiting the charming houses of Mickey, Minnie and other classic Disney characters. I especially thought the kitchen was cute with it's stove and...

Jun 13, 2013 - Winnemucca, NV
Didn’t wake up until 8:00 and had to hustle to leave before 9:00. Oddly, we had no battery power (bed would not go up and fridge was off.) Odd since we drove all day yesterday. Will have to look into that once we get home. Today is a drive across UT and most of NV. The scenery is dried salt lake and desert. As expected it was very windy. We gained an hour moving to PDT. As a result we drove much longer than normal, nearly 370 miles, to Winnemucca. Listened to a book on tape for most of the way. We last camped here with Joshua when he was...

Jun 11, 2013 - Short Update...
No refrigerator door yet. Hopefully today. Our friends the Kruse's suggested that we think about removing the heavy wood paneled fronts and replacing them with lighter oak panels. We may need to consider that, although we're hoping the reinforcement kit will take care of the 'design flaw'. We spent all of yesterday removing more items from the rig. Mostly clothing. Where on earth does it all come from? I don't remember buying many new things. Larry says it's all from the weight of my shoes. Duh...A girl has to wear shoes, right?? LOL I...

Jun 11, 2013 - Elko, Nevada
June 11, 2013 Elko, Nevada This morning was a welcome change to yesterday’s weather; sunny skies with a projected high of 85 degrees. We headed out at 8:30 am with a fuel stop at Winnemucca, 157 miles. With exception of the cross wind, the drive was good. Diesel price at flying J was $3.899/ gallon. Next door was McDonalds so we had lunch. Back on the road, the wind picked up a little. There is a lot of road repair between Winnemucca and Elko, so it was slow going. Our first RV park choice, Iron Horse RV Resort was full. They have a lot of...

Ross woke up this morning around 0550 and by 0620 he and the dog we walking around the campground. Ross has a GPS based timer that gives the time, speed, and distance walked. Two times around the park walking up and down every street in the park takes about 38 minutes and covers 2.5 miles. The morning was beautiful and sunny with broken clouds and the temperature around 60 degrees. The streets were wet because overnight there were thundershowers accompanied by thunder and lightning. We left the park around 0900 and headed for Elko, a...

Jun 10, 2013 - Day trip - VC, CC and Lake Tahoe
Another day of venturing out of Reno. Today we headed to Virginia City and into Carson City and then to Lake Tahoe. The trip was great and the views were wonderful. Shopping in Virginia City (and a little gambling) before heading to Carson City and into the Lake Tahoe area. We dined at Harrah's and also gambled a little there as well. It was a great trip and hope you enjoy the pictures. Until the next time ------- have fun and stay safe God Bless Ken and Fran

Jun 10, 2013 - Sparks, Nevada
June 10, 2013 Sparks, Nevada The first day of our trip got off to a slow start. At 4 am this morning, we had cloud-to-cloud lighting with light showers that woke us up. Elden pulled the motorhome out of the back yard to the front at 7 am to hook-up the truck. The weather was a cool 65 degrees, overcast and breezy. We thought we had everything under control to head out at 8:30 am but with various issues closing up the house, we finally left at 9:15. The first stop was at Lodi flying-J for fuel. Back on the road, we headed up I-80 to Sparks,...

Marge and Ross left San Ramon around 0750 so they could beat the school traffic that clogs the street every school day from about 0800 to 0830. We were to meet our traveling partners, Elden and Cherie Ables, at the Flying J Truck Stop in Lodi, California between 0930 and 1000. Marge and Ross arrived in Lodi around 0915 and the Ables were a few minutes late. We both refueled and left Lodi around 1045. The weather in the San Ramon was 107 Saturday and Sunday was at least 15 degrees cooler. This morning we awoke to damp streets and very light...

June 6, 2013- Reno, Nevada After much discussion last night, we decided to forego going to Yellowstone NP for various reasons: (1) we had been unable to get a spot on the RV park in Yellowstone itself. After our experience in Yosemite, where it was 5 miles to the entrance of the park and then another 25 miles of twisty-turney roads just to get to the Valley and at least 30-40 miles to get anywhere else in the park, we wanted to stay inside the park but had not booked far enough in advance. We could have stayed outside the park for $64.00...
