Nov 5, 2012 - Wild Horse Casino in Pendelton, Oregon to Wells, Nevada
Randy & I went into the casino for breakfast and both had eggs benny. It was really good. We had a nice morning, taking our time showering etc. I really feel like we're on vacation. The hills here in Pendleton are a golden colour and are stunning to see. Katie loved it so much in Pendleton that she didn't even want to come into the trailer. When we left the casino it was 9am. We started our drive with the climb up the large hill on Hwy 84 following it into Idaho to Twin Falls. Then we turned south on Hwy 93 and drove through Jackpot in...

Jul 30, 2012 - The drive to Wells,NV
We left Reno mid-morning and stopped for fuel before we left town. We decided as long as we were at the truck stop we’d have breakfast there too. We finally got on the road about 11am and had a 5 ½ hour drive ahead of us, plus time to take a few driving and dog breaks. Well, I’ve got say that this was the most boring 5 ½ hour drive we’ve ever taken. When there wasn’t a podunk little town we were passing through, there was scrub brush and some mountains on the horizon which we drove through once in a while. We kept passing signs saying...

Jun 15, 2011 - Stopover in Wells, Nevada
We arrived at Angel Lake RV Park here in Wells, Nevada. Although the town of Wells was founded in 1869 by the Central Pacific Railroad, use of the Humboldt Wells dates back thousands of years to the Western Shoshone who still live in a colony overlooking the town. Shoshone, Hudson Bay trappers, mountain men, and westbound wagon trains replenished at the Humboldt Wells. Wells has a surviving wild west commercial district where trains still rumble by stirring up dust and ghosts in the old buildings. It was 81 degrees here today, clear blue...

May 26, 2011 - To Wells, NV
Our next stop is Wells, NV - why?? - it's the right distance between Winnemucca, NV and Sun Valley, ID. Why 5 days?? - I didn't want to not have a place to stay for the Memorial Day Weekend - silly me - probably could've found a lot of other places. Oh well, at least I had 5 days to update our Trip Journal :) :)

Apr 8, 2011 - Wells, Nevada (Day four)
Snow, Snow, Snow.\ Well, as I was thinking yesterday, today should be the day of reckoning – or at least the day of truck repairs. But, of course, there IS an inch of snow on the ground!! Okay, the mechanic was expected to be there around 6:30, so I’ll have breakfast and go down there around 8:00 to see what’s happening. Well, I didn’t quite make it to 8:00, as was anxious to get moving. I’m still thinking 3:00 p.m., 2:00 if I’m lucky. I get down there – no mechanic yet. Should be here any time. Meanwhile, the shop owner comes in and hands...

Apr 7, 2011 - Wells, Nevada (day three)
Waiting, waiting, waiting. Well, today should do it, right? The day of reckoning, so to speak. The guy said he’d be at the shop at 6:30, and was hopeful of the part getting there soon afterwards. Of course, the other one small item I failed to mention is that this pump repair would be an all-day job. So if the part arrives early, I’m thinking, maybe 3:00 p.m., 2:00 if I’m lucky. So, I go down there around 8:00, thinking I might find the guy under the hood, parts scattered all over, in great anticipation that I will soon be on the road. Of...

Apr 6, 2011 - Wells, Nevada (day two)
The adventure continues. So much for beating the weather! Last night it got down to 20.5 degrees, and due to the light snow last night, the roads were a little on the frosty side. So, I waited for awhile, then went for a little walk and talked to a NDOT guy that said the road I was going to go over was in good shaper – this was after they cleared a wreck. The sky was clear, the sun was out, and it looked like a good day for traveling – after warming up a bit. But by now it was above freezing, so things were looking up. So I went back to...

Apr 5, 2011 - Wells, Nevada
Full of Surprises. I was attempting to put some miles behind me today, in anticipation of getting through most of Oregon while I had a window of opportunity – in other words, before the nasty weather started. And in keeping with my desire to take the secondary roads, I cut over at Salt Lake, with the anticipation of going up through the middle of Oregon. Again the drive up was very scenic. There was even some snow on the ground alongside some of the roadway. The temperature here was on the cool side, rarely getting above 50 degrees, with...

Sep 19, 2010 - Off to Wells Nv
We left Winnemucca a little before 9 AM and arrived at Wells, 171 miles down the road, around noon. There's not too much in Wells so Kay made margarita's and Barb made nachos...yumm! It's a small park and really no place to walk so we all got really lazy and took naps resting up from the "long" drive and getting ready for tomorrow's trek.

Aug 12, 2010 - Reno, Nevada - Wells, Nevada
Packed up and stopped around the corner for a coffee and a tea. While having our coffee, we decided we'd each take another 20 and try the casino - one last time. Within the first 10 minutes we both lost our money and then decided another 20 each. I was on a hot machine that doubled my money, down to $3.00 but by the time we left I had doubled my money. Chris had an even better machine and came away ahead. We figure with all our wins/losses at all the casino's, we are up $58.00. Not much but it could have been worse and it was fun. With the...

Jun 9, 2010 - Wells
It’s time for a stop just long enough for our mail to catch up with us. We realized we hadn’t had our mail sent to us since before Marty and Steve’s wedding last month! In order for our mail to catch up with us we have checked into the Mountain Shadows RV Park for the next seven days. As is turns out the Wells Post Office is directly across the street from the RV park… lucky us! It is still very much spring here in Wells, NV. The temperatures are predicted to be in the upper 60s this week so it should be really nice hiking weather. There...

Campground: Mountain Shadows RV Park We left this morning at 8:20 am and arrived in Wells, NV at 4:30 pm. The drive out of Sac was really easy. In fact the traffic all the way was not an issue. There was fresh snow at Donner Pass and it was cold. We had a tail wind all the way. The Humboldt Range here at Wells is covered with snow. Crossroads RV Park where we stayed last year is closed. Mountain Shadows is nice but more expensive. It's cold!
