Jun 9, 2012 - Sparks (Reno) NV

Gail's tooth is better. She felt fine yesterday, but today feels it a little. We think it may be due to altitude changes - pressure, etc. Beautiful drive from June Lake to here. One stretch north of Yosemite for about 20 miles had a narrow gorge with a fast babbling brook. Gail hit 2 quilt stores here - one was the same large one she saw in 2001.

Jun 8, 2012 - Carson Pass Highway

June 5th 2012 Blackstone RV Park in Fresno is smack dab in the middle of the city however access was not difficult. Inside the park was a different story. Catering to full time residents many of the campers had outside storage rooms and additions that tended to block traffic. Others just parked in the roadway making it more difficult to navigate the narrow, tree lined roads with a larger rig…but it was doable. In fact I ended up having more difficulty with the Jeep (backed into a tree) but that wasn’t the park’s fault. Fresno was one of...

Apr 6, 2012 - Blink...we're here!

. We left Dayton just before the 11AM check out time this morning and arrived just 50 minutes later at our next destination just 46 miles distant. Now this was a big moving day! The weather was perfect for brief travel. Waking to a brisk 23 degrees this morning, the bright sun made my first outing with our furry companion fairly comfortable in just a sweatshirt. By the time we hit the road, the temperature had risen above freezing and it was 38 degrees when we arrived in Sparks. There was only light traffic this morning and overnight snow...

Aug 25, 2011 - Scheels Legends Store

We visited one of the most unique stores in Sparks today. Scheels, in the Legends at Sparks Marina, is billed as the world's largest all-sports store. It has 85 plus specialty shops within 248,000 square feet of space. The first thing we saw when we walked in was a huge fish aquarium stocked with freshwater fish from the state of Nevada. We saw: catfish, sturgeon, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, blue gill, crappie, and red & green sunfish. The next thing we noticed was a huge Ferris Wheel located inside the store. You only pay $1 to ride...

Jul 4, 2011 - 4th of July in Reno

We relaxed today at the RV park. The boys rode bikes, swam in the pool, and played in the video arcade. We had a hot dog lunch and I took a snooze. We threw some NY strips on the grill about 7pm and then caught the fire works show at the Nugget in Sparks , NV which is a stones throw from Reno. The show was great but there was a 1 hour grid lock afterwords. We parked and went into the Nugget and had some coffee and cookies from Starbucks. It's late and we leave for Elko, NV in the first leg of some heavy three day driving in route to...

Jan 27, 2011 - viva LAS VEGAS

Arrived in Las Vegas after 4 nights in Pahrump, NV at a great RV park around a 7acre lake. It was a man made lake, we were parked lakeside, it had a walking path all the way around, and yes, we did walk it "almost" everyday!!!! Had the motorhome washed, the water had so much mineral in it that when it dried & all the guys were gone, we had bunches of white spots "everywhere"!!!!!!! ick Now in Las Vegas we are waiting the arrival of Mike H. & Lois. Plan to cook for them in the RV Friday night, then on to see Cher on Sat. then we all go our...

Jan 18, 2011 - Back in Nevada

Not much excitement to post as yet - just bringing all up to date. Arrived late yesterday afternoon in our truck fully loaded to the gills with clothes & necessities to get us through the next year on the road. Unsure where it's all going to fit yet, but we'll figure something out! Ha Picked up the coach from Sierra RV, where it has been since Dec. 18 having a sani-con installed & a couple little warranty items addressed. We installed Skype first thing on the computer, "Skyped" with Kathleen & Chad, there are a few bugs to work out, but...

Reached the Donner Pass summit, 7300 ft. at the Boreal Ridge sky resort where they were skying under lights. Here the snow was packed about six feet on both sides of the interstate. Now downhill into Truckee, then 25 miles more down hill to the Nevada border, with our home 28 miles further. Roadways dry. Arrived home 5:30 PM, after traveling about 650 miles in 11 and a half hours. Plum tuckered out!

Poinsettia Bowl 2010

Dec 22, 2010 - Underway from Home

Held Reveille at 5 AM, getting underway just after 6. Because of the heavy storms in Southern California and snow falls in the Sierra Nevada, we decided to bypass the Northern section of I-395 through the Mammoth Mountain area of Eastern California. This section we're bypassing has right now, chain control areas in three separate locations. No thanks! Our route took us, first, East through Fallon, NV, then South on US 95 through the Army Depot at Hawthorne, NV, cutting over on US 6 into California, picking up I-395 at Bishop, CA. Checking...

Dec 14, 2010 - Picking up new Coach

Met with Sierra RV on Tues., 12/14/2010 about noon to participate in walk through, finalize paper work, etc., on new 2011 Tiffin Allegro Bus, 40QXP. What a "Beauty" (as Uncle Johnny would say) - after 4+ hours of introduction to our new coach & the wonderful people at Sierra RV & learning about the services of a Route 66 dealer, we were on our way. Linda drove the new rig, following Bob on the surface streets of Reno, in the dark, to our RV park (Marina RV Park) in Sparks, NV. We had arrived earlier in a Budget rental truck with all our RV...
