Apr 8, 2008 - Reno

We have woken up to snow today. There is no snow on the ground but it is snowing. We have to get out of here!!! Off to Reno which is only 80 miles away so it shouldn't take us long to get there. Hopefully it will be a pretty journey. We are staying at an rv park attached to a casino which, when we looked on google earth, seems to be at the end of the runway!! We'll see. I think they have internet but not sure. More when we have done something... If Hilary and Ernie are reading this or anyone who knows their e-mail, could you please send it...

Apr 3, 2008 - Death Valley California and Reno Nevada

We spent a very interesting, yet relaxing, four days in Death Valley. The drive in from California across two high mountain passes was picturesque, but gave the truck quite a workout. We were close to overheating on the long climbs, and the brakes got a bit hot on the drives down the mountains. Our first stop in Death Valley National Park was Stovepipe Wells. We camped in the large camping areas amidst all the other RVs and tents. There are no RV services in the park, so our generator came in handy, particularly to run the air conditioner...

Feb 15, 2008 - Reno!

Today we left Park City and we were off to Reno to see Lake Tahoe and Aunt Mimi. The trip took HOURS and we went across the desert for miles and miles. Aside from the games in the car and the few stops...it was just a full day of driving until we got to Aunt Mimi's. It was so nice to see her and we had a wonderful dinner. I didnt last long and fell asleep in a chair shortly after dinner...Mark was ready to go gamble in Reno and I was out cold. Although we promised we were going to see some night life.... I just didnt have it in me. He needs...

The M&M Roadtrip!

Nov 19, 2007 - Heading south

This is our first entry to our new blog. After several days and hundreds of trip out to the motorhome and back, we are nearly ready to begin our winter sojourn to Mexico. Our first stop along the way will be in Beatty, NV. and Death Valley, CA. for the Thanksgiving holidays. This year we are celebrating with Mary's brothers and their families. We wish we could all be together in the great outdoors but we will have to keep planning for that. Harold and I will be spending the rest of the holidays in sunny old Mexico. We plan on crossing the...

Oct 30, 2007 - Oroville, CA. To Reno, NV.

Today we left Oroville for Reno where we will spend the night with friends, Jim and Mona. We traveled over Donner Pass which has a summit of 7,227 feet. It was a long gradual climb to the summit but a piece of cake with the new truck. The scenery was beautiful! Approaching Reno, we were amazed by all the development in the surrounding mountainous areas. It had been 30 years since we were in Reno and of course there have been tremendous changes. Jim and Mona live about 15 miles north of downtown Reno surrounded by gorgeous mountains. We...

Oct 16, 2007 - Day 47 - Drive to Reno-my first day without shorts

Windy, Windy & More Windy, I knew last night I was driving into a storm today, that's why I got up at 5:30 and left at 6:30 (4:30 & 5:30 Pacific Time). And, for the first time, DeeDee Garmin said "proceed 509 miles" when I turned on to I-40 at the Salt Lake Airport. I new the weather was cooler and windy, so for the first time the whole trip...I put on jeans, regular socks and real shoes...sigh...I may have lingered a few days too many in the sunny, warmer Southern climbs? Leaving Salt Lake City, first you go around the Lake (didn't see it,...

Oct 15, 2007 - big WHOOPS with the RV!!

We elected to head out across California and into Nevada on the way to see Bryce canyon and Zion National Parks in Utah. We will go through Reno, NV and spend a night there trying our luck in the casinos. BUT, WHOOPS as we were crossing the Carquinez Straight bridge on I-80 Dick was trying to go through a narrow toll booth lane when he hit the front right corner of the RV on something that must have been sticking out on the concrete guide directing us into the toll taker's booth. Now we have a torn bra on the front right and a deep digging...

Oct 11, 2007 - Reno, Nevada

We landed in Reno. It'll be a short stop, about 12 days, for us to get to all our doctor visits and see kids, grandkids, friends. We thank our leasee, Christa, for allowing us the freedom to come and go as we please when we're in town. We try not to disturb her much and, of course, we try not to stay too long. She's gracious enough to mention we can stay as long as we want, "After all, it's your house.", we answer "yes, but...". We park here for convenience while we do the little things on the property that need tending to. Things like...

Sep 29, 2007 - Travelling Over the Sierra Nevada Mountains

Folks, after a hiatus of some six months, I return with a discussion of our weekend trip over the mountains to California. During this period, I, again went under the knife, this time with torn knee cartilage, July 20. Ughsville! Last year, July 14, it was a torn rotator cuff. As my sister says, "Getting old, isn't for sissies." Saturday morning, 29 September, we headed west on Interstate 80, over Donner Pass to Chico, California for a family wedding. The night before, Friday, I heard rain at 9:30 PM, opened the door to check it out as...

Chico Family Wedding

Sep 7, 2007 - Reno, NV

Today was a big travel day. We drove 600 miles. We went through some great landscapes. Northern California was dry. Saw Mt. Shasta on the way to Susanville. As we entered Susanville, there was a really large wildfire in the distance. As we drew closer, it seemed as if we would be driving right into the flames. The smoke was so thick that it obliterated the sun. As we continued east, we gradually exited the problem area. This would have been especially scarey coming from the east to the west. As we looked back, it appeared to be...

Aug 9, 2007 - Hot Nites and Cool Cars~

Aug 9 Hot Nites and Cool Cars~ Hot August Nights....the largest gathering of vintage cars in the U.S. Every store window, every employee turns back the clock and poodle skirts and oxfords are the dress of the day. Look over your shoulder at the stop light and you may see a '52 T-Bird or a '61 Vette...the low rumble of the Bel Aires becomes the music of the night.... Every parking in Reno is roped off ....people gather, not to SELL their cars but to show them off! Chamois fly and the smell of car polish is intoxicating, we feel the hook bite...
