Oct 17, 2018 - Last Stop Before our Journey Back to Picacho

Our trip to Pahrump took us down Hwys 95 & Hwy 160. We traveled 279 miles, but somehow it seemed longer. Another day of crazies on the road, we were passed by a pick-up pulling a tongue trailer...he was so close to the on coming traffic, one driver had to pull onto the shoulder....why do people have to risk their lives & others just to get ahead. Pete always says that there is no place we need to be in that big of a hurry. We are staying at Lakeside Casino & RV Park for two nights.

May 28, 2018 - Travel Days

We stayed our first night in Tonopah, Nevada at the Tonopah Station Casino. Buddy had recommended it to us, ans since the wind was blowing hard and gusting harder we felt like a stop was in order. Not much to the town, at least from where we were, but we did get some good pictures of some old mining equipment that was out front. The next night was in Fallon at the Bonanza Casino. Again, not much to the town that we could get to on foot but a fairly pleasant place to stay. The next night on the road was in Susanville, California. At the...

May 25, 2018 - Death Valley

We drove to Death Valley National Park today. Buddy and Elaine had been, of course, but said it had been a long time. There was a terrific flood last year; they had not seen it since most of the roads and buildings had been renovated. We were expecting something similar to the salt plains around the Great Salt Lake. It was nothing like that! It was incredibly beautiful with colorful rock formations, sand and amazing vistas. It is the hottest place on earth, with the highest recorded temperature of 134 degrees in 1913. Elevations range from...

May 24, 2018 - New Friends from Yuma

Today we drove to Pahrump to visit Buddy and Elaine, the couple we met while in Yuma and later saw again in Parker. They had invited us to set up in their yard, so we did. Buddy directed us in, had an electrical cord ready and plopped a grass matt in front of our door when we were parked. Definitely rolled out the welcome matt! Dinner tonight was at a local casino, with a 2 for 1 special. We made it an early night as we were tired from the move.

May 20, 2018 - Lakeside Casino & RV Resort

/// May 20, 2018 A Travel Day: With just a short haul of approximately 80 miles to our next destination, Pahrump, NV, we really had to make an effort and delay our departure until after 10:00 am. At a leisurely pace, I puttered along with the checklist and we finally hooked up and left Boulder City shortly after 10:00 am. // Our route today would take us past Las Vegas via I-215 to the Jct of I-15 and then west of Hwy 160. The drive over Spring Mountain was a long uphill grade and gave the FORD F-350 a little workout. We coasted the rest...

May 16, 2018 - Travel to Pahrump, Nevada

After a 222 mile trip to Quartzsite & a very quiet & restful night we got up early this morning & headed for Pahrump, Nevada. We are staying at Lakeside RV Resort, Pete & I have stayed here before ( it once was Terrible's Lakeside RV Resort, but obviously it has new ownership). Today we traveled 275 miles, it was a relaxing drive until we hit Vegas, then it turned into a survival of the fitness (just kidding)...lets just say it was busy. We did get a chance to see a couple of mountain sheep right on the roadside (on Hwy 160)that was a nice...

Nov 3, 2017 - Pahrump

We still had a bit of time before we had to be in Las Vegas so we headed to Amargosa Valley Casino. They have an RV park with hookups really cheap plus a good steak for a cheap price. Also it is very near one of my top ten favorite National Wildlife refuges, Ash Meadows. So a stop there and a visit to the refuge was in order! After that we drove a short distance to Pahrump for a few days to the Nevada Treasure RV Park. We wanted to visit with Greg, a member of our Yellowstone Family (and former boss). It was fun to hang out without work in...

May 10, 2017 - On to Nevada

Left our Hurricane, UT airbnb home after a big last breakfast and headed southwest to Nevada with a brief cut across Northeast Arizona. Decided to take make a visit through the Valley of Fire which was pretty impressive. Dennis had hoped for a night in Vegas but with temps in Death Valkey forecast to be in the 100's tomorrow, we decided to keep riding to allow an earlier morning ride through the heat. Ended up getting a room at the Pahrump Nuggets Casino in Pahrump, NV. Not quite as showy as Vegas and the age demographic is fairly old, but...

Nov 28, 2016 - Happy Thanksgiving

I am so far behind on updating our trip that I don’t even know where to begin. I’m definitely going to have to give the short version. (My daughters will be surprised to know I have a short version!). We spent several weeks on the coast of California including the Pismo Dunes and Rincon Beach north of Ventura. We had great weather while at Pismo and we got to eat some of our favorite local treats such as the best clam chowder ever at Splash Café in Pismo Beach and the best ever BBQ tri-trip sandwich at Firestones in San Luis Obispo. We...

May 20, 2016 - Pahrump

We've been hanging out in Pahrump, Nevada at Preferred RV Park since May 16th. Kirk had trouble unhitching the trailer so we decided to bite the bullet and purchase a new hitch. We've spent this time catching up on business, laundry and all the adult stuff that doesn't go away :) Now we are waiting out a wind storm, and planning a trip in the truck to Death Valley while the weather is cooler to explore. Pahrump is a nice little place of about 30,000. The views all around are stunning. You can't beat a desert sunset anywhere! The Internet...

Mar 15, 2016 - Wine Ridge RV Resort (3/10 - 3/15/16)

We arrived in Pahrump at another of our favorite places. Wine Ridge is a great resort on the outskirts of Pahrump on the edge of the desert. It is truly a resort with all the amenities. There are two pools (at least one of which is heated), a hot tub, two fire pits (one by each pool) pickle ball courts, an RV wash, laundry, nice bathhouse, lending library, free waffle breakfast Monday - Friday and other fun activities. For those who want more than Pahrump has to offer, we are only an hour from Las Vegas. There are different activities and...
