Apr 30, 2014 - A Second Day in Pahrump

Wednesday, April 30, 2014 Today was spent on researching our RV trip here next year. We visited RV parks and the Pahrump Valley Museum which houses, among other things, the largest Abraham Lincoln collection in the country. We also saw the Spring Mountain Raceway, (oh boy, oh boy), two hotels, and had a barbecue lunch at a perspective caterer. Poor Jim had to work on his rig to repair their bedroom slide. Buy perhaps Jim was happy not having to go with us!

Mar 27, 2014 - Pahrump, Nevada

We spent six days at a membership park in Pahrump. It turns out there is a lot to see around that little burg. The Amargosa Opera House and Hotel is about 30 miles west in the town of Death Valley Junction, California. In the mid-1960s Marta Becket had a flat tire while heading out of Death Valley National Park to return to her home in New York. She found help in the near-ghost town of Death Valley Junction. While she awaited the repair of her tire, Corkhill Hall caught her eye. This old community hall, part of a U-shaped city plaza built...

Mar 25, 2014 - Pahrump, NV

We had a nice uneventful trip south with overnighters at Costco and Walmart. We watched a beautiful sunrise from our bedroom while parked at the Costco parking lot. I guess you can find beauty anyplace if you look for it. We arrived in Pahrump, NV on Friday the 21st; weather is great, in the low 80’s. We were able to get a spot near friends we met in Pahrump last year. It was nice to get reacquainted. They are full timers and work at different parks over the summer months, this year it will be in Montana. We did a lot of visiting, & dinners...

Feb 21, 2014 - Lakeside RV in Pahrump

After 3 months of rugged but dry mountain views at Boulder City, and a week of the same type view at the Escapee Pair-a-Dice Co-op Park in Pahrump, we have moved to a water view. Lakeside RV Park is only 1.5 miles from the Escapee Park, but the man-made lake is a wonderful sight for the eyes. There are many birds on and around the water here. We’ve seen at least four types of ducks, Canadian Geese, American Coots and two types of heron on the water and shore. In the trees, are White-winged doves doing courtship acrobatics similar to the...

Feb 12, 2014 - Over the Hump to Pahrump

We Rambling Rodericks left the charming town of Boulder City, NV, February 12th, where we had stayed since mid-November. I felt excited to be moving on, but had that sense of sadness of “leaving home behind” once again. That happens to me when we stay in one place long enough to become very familiar and comfortable with the area. So, the beginning of the drive out of the Boulder City basin was at first bittersweet. The drive to Pahrump was a little over 70 miles and took a little over an hour and a half. We arrived around 12:30. The people...

May 4, 2013 - Pahrump and Valley of Fire, Nevada

We are now in Bullhead City, NV. The park is lovely, paved streets a beautiful pool and spa and is located on a hill overlooking the casinos in Laughlin,NV. We spent the day setting up, doing wash and checking out the things we want to see in the area. The wind has finally settled down to a nice breeze and the temp is in the low 80's (perfect). The park is only a mile from the Colorado River so I hope Mark will catch some fish while we are here. He did catch a nice Bass and released it as we don’t like Bass. The wind has been blowing pretty...

Apr 2, 2013 - Happy Easter

Why is it that “vacations” seem to go by so fast and then become just a blur? That’s what has happened with our time in San Diego. It went by so fast and now is just a blur. We loved every moment and both the planned and unplanned activities. We got to spend a good amount of time with Corinne and we kept busy doing things with her. We had a great campsite at Sweetwater Regional Park and fell in love with the San Diego area. I can see why she likes it so well down there and she has made a lot of great new friends. San Diego has a very...

Today was a lay around day after yesterdays long Death Valley trip. We have never found a campground quite like this before. Dinner at Symphony's (onsite) was the highlight for today. We seldom treat ourselves to these places, it was a white linen affair that topped $100. We were spoiled ,Shrimp, Fillet Mignon, fancy drinks,ah life is good !!! This is officially the end of this trip. The remaining entries will be stops on way northwith nothing...

Mar 23, 2013 - Pahrump NV - March 23-28

It was a short drive to get positioned for our next 200 mile trip in a few days. RV Park Reviews rated the Wine Ridge RV Resort very high. It is excellent ,a former membership park completing a full makeover, buildings, adding pools ,8 new washrooms, more hot tubs, and redoing the RV sites. A view of the snow capped Mt Charleston from our site as well. Attached is a first class winery with an upscale restaurant within feet of our RV. Another bonus was it is a member of Passport America discount program. Looks like a longer stay ?? Booked in for...

Mar 21, 2013 - Preferred RV Resort

We made it over the hump to Pahrump (as they say in this part of Nevada) from the Las Vegas area on Thursday afternoon. Once we were set up in our site for the next couple of weeks or so, we said hello to our dear friends and fellow RV fulltimers, Ed & Pat. These folks have done more to help us ease into this lifestyle than anyone else. We met them out on the Oregon Coast at Bullards Beach State Park back in 2005 shortly after we bought our motorhome. They continue to be a wealth of information about RVing, how to have a good time and very...
