Mar 15, 2016 - Wine Ridge RV Resort (3/10 - 3/15/16)

We arrived in Pahrump at another of our favorite places. Wine Ridge is a great resort on the outskirts of Pahrump on the edge of the desert. It is truly a resort with all the amenities. There are two pools (at least one of which is heated), a hot tub, two fire pits (one by each pool) pickle ball courts, an RV wash, laundry, nice bathhouse, lending library, free waffle breakfast Monday - Friday and other fun activities. For those who want more than Pahrump has to offer, we are only an hour from Las Vegas. There are different activities and...

Feb 26, 2016 - driving in circles

If we had planned this trip considering only the most efficient route, we would not find ourselves back in Nevada. There are some events that brought us to the West - the RV show in Quartzsite, the fireworks festival in Lake Havasu City, Modernism Week in Palm Springs, a rendezvous with Aussie friends in San Francisco and our ultimate goal - to put the motor home on a ferry and spend quality time touring Vancouver Island. Along the way we inserted a trip to South America that will begin with boarding a plane in Las Vegas. In between these...

Today we hung around the repair shop while the mechanics finished their work and BART got a spa treatment. Finally got everything finished and returned to the RV park at about 5pm...just in time for the clouds to roll in and rain on our nice clean coach!

2015 Southwest Trip

May 12, 2015 - Las Vegas, NV to Pahrump, NV

Today we drove from Las Vegas to Pahrump, NV. This will be our base for visiting Death Valley. Uh oh! When we disconnected the car from the coach, we noticed droplets of oily stuff all over it. Dan looked under the coach and saw an oily substance dripping from a rusted steel pipe that had apparently been blowing back to the "Toad." We decided to deal with the leaking problems the next morning and headed toward wine tasting at the winery that was adjacent to the campground. Gary and Marion joined us for dinner at "Symphony," the very nice...

Nov 27, 2014 - Happy Thanksgiving

I don't know how two old retired folks with nothing but time on their hands can be so busy that we don't even have time to catch everyone up on where we are and what we have been up to. But that is the case. So I will try to catch up as best as I can and hope this doesn't get too long. After leaving the Grand Canyon area, we stopped over at a Coast to Coast park first in Lake Havasu City and then in Bullhead City, AZ, across the Colorado River from Laughlin, NV. The day we arrived in Lake Havasu City the park was having a roast pork dinner,...

Crawford's Trip 2014

Apr 30, 2014 - A Second Day in Pahrump

Wednesday, April 30, 2014 Today was spent on researching our RV trip here next year. We visited RV parks and the Pahrump Valley Museum which houses, among other things, the largest Abraham Lincoln collection in the country. We also saw the Spring Mountain Raceway, (oh boy, oh boy), two hotels, and had a barbecue lunch at a perspective caterer. Poor Jim had to work on his rig to repair their bedroom slide. Buy perhaps Jim was happy not having to go with us!

Mar 27, 2014 - Pahrump, Nevada

We spent six days at a membership park in Pahrump. It turns out there is a lot to see around that little burg. The Amargosa Opera House and Hotel is about 30 miles west in the town of Death Valley Junction, California. In the mid-1960s Marta Becket had a flat tire while heading out of Death Valley National Park to return to her home in New York. She found help in the near-ghost town of Death Valley Junction. While she awaited the repair of her tire, Corkhill Hall caught her eye. This old community hall, part of a U-shaped city plaza built...

2014-Australia

Mar 25, 2014 - Pahrump, NV

We had a nice uneventful trip south with overnighters at Costco and Walmart. We watched a beautiful sunrise from our bedroom while parked at the Costco parking lot. I guess you can find beauty anyplace if you look for it. We arrived in Pahrump, NV on Friday the 21st; weather is great, in the low 80’s. We were able to get a spot near friends we met in Pahrump last year. It was nice to get reacquainted. They are full timers and work at different parks over the summer months, this year it will be in Montana. We did a lot of visiting, & dinners...

Feb 21, 2014 - Lakeside RV in Pahrump

After 3 months of rugged but dry mountain views at Boulder City, and a week of the same type view at the Escapee Pair-a-Dice Co-op Park in Pahrump, we have moved to a water view. Lakeside RV Park is only 1.5 miles from the Escapee Park, but the man-made lake is a wonderful sight for the eyes. There are many birds on and around the water here. We’ve seen at least four types of ducks, Canadian Geese, American Coots and two types of heron on the water and shore. In the trees, are White-winged doves doing courtship acrobatics similar to the...

Rambling Rodericks

Feb 12, 2014 - Over the Hump to Pahrump

We Rambling Rodericks left the charming town of Boulder City, NV, February 12th, where we had stayed since mid-November. I felt excited to be moving on, but had that sense of sadness of “leaving home behind” once again. That happens to me when we stay in one place long enough to become very familiar and comfortable with the area. So, the beginning of the drive out of the Boulder City basin was at first bittersweet. The drive to Pahrump was a little over 70 miles and took a little over an hour and a half. We arrived around 12:30. The people...
