May 15, 2013 - Nice drive...
We arrived in Vegas about 5pm after an uneventful trip. We're always grateful for that! Traffic was very light until we hit I-15 and even then it wasn't too bad as the rush hour hadn't quite hit. The temperature was 20 degrees warmer than when we left Ely, not loving that. I've been enjoying those 70 degree days. Today I had tons of errands to do before we leave for our trip to California. So looking forward to the beach and especially Disneyland. Isn't going to visit cool places with the grandchildren neat? I've been instructed to take...

May 12, 2013 - Happy Mother's Day!
Today we are so fortunate to be here in Ely to celebrate this special Mother's Day with Mom. We plan to go to church this morning followed by a bbq later in the day. As in years past, this day brings up many thoughts about motherhood for me. We are especially proud of our daughter-in-law's who are all doing an amazing job with our beautiful grandchildren. We love, admire & respect you ladies! God bless you & the amazing women you are. There are many women who have not given birth to a child that have fulfilled all the criteria of a Mother...

May 11, 2013 - Update...
Wow, I can't believe we've been here 11 days already, the time is sure flying by quickly. We really haven't done much as the weather has really had it's ups and downs. We even got a bit of rain one day, but it was light and didn't last long. The temperature went from 54 the day we arrived to a couple of high 60's and even a 70 before dropping back into the low 50's again! But I'm happy to report it is in the mid 70's today and looks like it will stay that way for a bit. Mom has a large cinder block garage and a good sized storage shed so...

May 10, 2013 - Vegas to Ely...
We've arrived in Ely safely. Well, we actually arrived 10 days ago but as usual I seem to be running behind in posting. But I'm almost there. We've been enjoying visiting with Mom & Lori. They are both doing well. Mom had her blood work done so she could see her doctor for a routine visit. As you know she's been with sister Joyce in Mesquite over the winter and has just recently returned home. The Ely winters are way too tough for her. Works out well for her. Anyway, spring is here and the weather will be beautiful here for the next few...

Dec 1, 2012 - Happy 27th Anniversary honey!
Wednesday morning dawned bright and clear, good news for us as we were afraid the big storm with high winds would move in before we got out of town. It took a bit longer to break down as we've been sitting for just over a month here at Mom's. It seems like the longer you sit still, the more 'stuff' you get out and use. I used my 'new' pressure cooker a couple of times after Thanksgiving, trying to make good use of the leftovers. The ham made a wonderful pot of goodness with potatoes, carrots and onions all pressure cooked together. But I...

Nov 30, 2012 - A quick update....
Thank you all very much for your comments & thoughts regarding this blog. It's amazing to us how many of you took the time to drop us a note even though you've never met us 'in person'. However, if you feel like Larry & I do about many of you we understand the sentiment. We follow numerous blogs each & every day & learn much about this rv'ing lifestyle in the process. And on the plus side, we enjoy knowing where many of you currently are as we hope to eventually meet for 'a cup of coffee on down the road'. Even though I don't actually drink...

Nov 27, 2012 - Time to move on....
Well, I can't believe that it's been a month already, the whole month of November just flew by! Anyway, we move on tomorrow, destination Las Vegas. But first we're giving Mom a ride to Mesquite to sister Joyce's. As you know, she spends the winter there every year. It is entirely too cold & too snowy for her to stay here in Ely during the winter months. We plan to stop at a truck wash on the outskirts of Vegas when we arrive. We've never used one before but understand they do a nice job on both the 5'er & the truck. They are both in dire...

Nov 21, 2012 - Happy Thanksgiving!...
I can't believe it's Thanksgiving once again. 2012 has certainly flown by quickly. As you know, Larry & I are here in Ely, Nevada visiting with Mom. And sister Lori & her hubby Marion too, of course. We have been having a nice time & it will be even better when our niece Tiffany (Lori's daughter) & her family arrive around noon tomorrow to share this special holiday with us. They live in the San Diego, California area so it's a bit of a trip for them. Glad it won't be snowing, even though the kids wish it would! I wish we could be with each...

Nov 17, 2012 - Black deer...
Today's three pictures were taken by RJ Verge near Beamsville Ontario, Canada. I have never seen or heard of one of these before. What a beautiful creature! I understand that black deer are more rare than albinos. So, would this deer be considered the "black deer" of the family? LOL

Nov 16, 2012 - If I Were The Devil...
Do you remember the famous ABC radio commentator Paul Harvey? Millions of Americans listened to his programs which were broadcast over 1,200 radio stations nationwide. When you listen to this, remember, the commentary was broadcast 47 years ago on April 3, 1965. It's short...less than three minutes. You will be amazed. Please turn your speakers on, give it a listen, then a bit of thought. Sure gave me something to think about this morning! Paul Harvey

Nov 14, 2012 - A little update....
Not much new here on the home front. We pretty much stayed in for the couple of snowy days we had over the weekend but the weather has improved greatly. We are now in the 40's during the day & the high teens at night. Feels like a heat wave, lol! The past few days we baked a cake, mostly to heat up the kitchen, baked salmon and tonight we're having baked manicotti. The oven really helps, lol. We also enjoyed the clam chowder son Tom made while we were in Oregon. He was kind enough to freeze a couple of bags of it for us & we knew Mom would...
