Jul 29, 2010 - Thursday July 29- Atchison KS- Lewis and Clark State Park

We traveled south on I-80, south on Rt. 77, east on Rt. 2 through Nebraska to I-29 south in Iowa, into Missouri. We split off I-29 in St. Joseph MO and drove south on Rt. 59 to Lewis and Clark State Park. This is the only campground in the area where our motor home will fit. We are actually staying in MO, just across the river from Atchison KS. Last time we were here we stayed in Platte City MO, but there is a detour from that campground to drive to Atchison for the reunion, so we decided to stay at the state park, which is about 30...

Jul 28, 2010 - Wednesday 7/28/10- Lincoln NE

Beep! I opened one eye and checked the clock, it was 6:20 AM. By the time I figured this out we had a second beep and Bob woke up. I padded over to the propane detector and sure enough there was a red light. By this time we had 2 beeps going. Bob got up to checked and both our propane and carbon monoxide detectors were saying low battery. Not good! He checked the battery indicator in the driver’s compartment and it said that our batteries were dead. We were on 50 amp electric, but the “house” batteries were dead when they were supposed to...

Oct 27, 2008 - OTRA - NE - Republican City

Took our time leaving today. The owner of the park (Leonard) and Bob got into a long discussion about farming, retirement, and rv’ing, and I was just futzing around. Finally left around 12:15, after Leonard came over to give us a gift of some huge carrots from his garden. Bob had already collected a bag of tomatoes from there after Leonard said he could. So we’re set for those two veggies for awhile. The drive was beautiful. No matter which way we go in this state, there’s a railroad track running right along with us. I wonder which came...
