Apr 28, 2011 - Papillion, Ne (Walnut Creek)

We have spent the last two weeks here in Papillion spending time with our girls and their families. We just love being around them and playing with our grandkids. We've had them spend the night a couple of times and we've been over spending time with them. They ARE the reason we come back here during the spring and summer.

Apr 17, 2011 - Papillion, NE

We have been in Papillion now for a little more than a week, in total we have had two maybe three nice days! It's been in the 40's can you believe it? On our first Saturday in town, Brandee and Justin had all of us over for a tacos and nachos and to spend the day with everyone. It was sooo good to see everyone and it is always great to have the grandkids so excited to see you! We love being grandparents! It's the best. Little Graylie is just adorable, Rick got to see her for the first time! We had a great day, the weather was beautiful,...

Apr 8, 2011 - Papillion, NE

The rain let up by late morning so we decided to get ready to leave. The pads here in the RV park are gravel, but when we pulled in last night the drivers side back tire was a little bit on the grass. When we went to pull out the coach's back tire just spun, and we proceeded to dig ourselves into a big hole. Fortunately there was large pile of rock near by, so Rick had to make several trips with a bucket to fill the hole with the rock. We also had to unhook the car and push it out of the way so we could "rock" the coach to get ourselves...

Once we got back from Yankton, SD, we stayed in Sioux City, Ia for another week. WE had the opportunity to spend time with friends and family. We were able to see most everyone we wanted to while there, probably not spend as much time with everyone as we would have liked, but it is difficult when everyone you know is still working! We left Sioux City and came to Papillion, NE to Walnut Creek Recreation Area where we stayed for three weeks. This is such a lovely area, walking trails, the lake (creek)and convenient to the kids, shopping and...

May 26, 2010 - No more Vacations..........Just Life!

Never again do I have to have that feeling that the vacation is coming to an end and we have to return home, and return to work. Yesterday was my last "official" day of work. I have to admit it is a strange feeling knowing your life is no longer controlled by a calendar and a clock. We are still at Walnut Creek Campground in Papillion. We will remain here until Jean is done with work also. It is spring here the geese have hatched and the flowers are in full bloom. Jean will take over the flower posting, she is going to call it "Jean's...

Jan 22, 2009 - Our Trip Begins

Today we loaded the car and set off for Illinois. Nothing new here. Just get to I-80 and head across Iowa like we have so many times before. I had not slept well the night before so Joyce was going to drive and I was going to nap, but just as we were ready to go she got a call that was going to take a while so I kicked her out of the drivers seat and we headed out. At the first rest stop in Iowa we traded back and she drove the rest of the way. We arrived at Katherine's house in the early evening. It was good to see her and to have a...

Apr 20, 2008 - Time to Leave Already...We Are Not Ready.

We left home around 9 A.M. Sunday, 20 April. Our first stop was for gas the rip off price of $3.39/gal. Joyce had a coupon which brought that down to $3.29 which is still beyond reason. Unfortunately, I am sure it will get worse along the way. Then we dropped some books at the library and some movies (unwatched) at Blockbuster. As you can see we were well prepared for our trip. Right!

Feb 18, 2008 - Home!

We hit the road for the last time on this trip with Papillion as our goal for the day. After an easy drive home we arrived in time to get unloaded and then relax awhile before Brian came by. We have been away on his birthday for several years now so we really wanted to be home to celebrate his birthday together. We had a good evening together which was the best way possible to end the trip.

Florida 2008

Jan 12, 2008 - The Trip Begins...with a whimper.

Well, we got off to a fantastic start! We have been waffling about when to leave. I had wanted to leave mid-week and make a couple of stops along the way, but things kept interfering. We finally decided to load up this morning so we would go through St. Louis during the weekend an miss some of the traffic. We got everything into the car and cranked it up. But it cranked a bit sluggishly. We drove a few blocks and filled the gas tank. Joyce was driving and when she cranked it she only got a chatter. So we called Brian who came out and jumped...

Southwest Fall 2007

May 20, 2007 - Home

We started with breakfast at the same restaurant where we ate last night. The motel had given us coupons for $2 off per person. The morning crew gave a little better service, but not much. After breakfast we loaded up and went back to the courthouse and I took a bunch of pictures. Then we once again headed north. As we rolled along we knew we had made the right decision to stop when we did. We drove a long way before seeing a motel. As we drove today the thing that impressed us was the increasing price of fuel. I kept holding out thinking...
