Jul 17, 2015 - Moving south and the Agate Fossil Beds NM

On Sunday we hooked up the wagon and headed south to Scotts Bluff to resume our explorations of the wagon and Pony Express Trails. We took Route 29 south from Harrison to enjoy the views and stop at Agate Fossil Beds NM. Rolling south out of the Pine Ridge Country we were soon back in the Sandhills. Ranching rains supreme in these parts. The ranchers grow and harvest hay for the harsh winters. But without that precious commodity – water, there can’t be much crop growing. Jul 7, 2014 - Lake Minatare State R.A.

We did a bit of exploring today. We drove about 20 miles to Lake Minatare State Recreational Area. We thought about moving to the campground there next week, but once we saw the camping area, we knew we would not be able to get our satellite in because of the trees. I have never seen so many trees so close together. This is a beautiful park where you park right on the water, it does not have full hookups, just electric, but the area is awesome.
