Aug 24, 2011 - Cooling off in Lake MConaughy

As the temperature was getting up to triple digits again we decided to explore the lake shore and take a dip to stay cool. There were a load of shoals of infant catfish in the shallow waters together with a couple of pretty large adults. Darren decided against fishing however as the temperature really started to soar. He did spot a large rabbit busily having an evening munch so snapped a picture and hoped the dogs wouldn't find him too!

Aug 23, 2011 - Back to tranquility?

It is time to search for a more tranquil spot, so we set off west towards Lake McConaughy. En-route we pass cornfields galore once again but also the disturbing site of a number of CAFO’s (confined animal feeding operations). These ‘operations’ are a production process which saves money and concentrates large numbers of animals in a small and confined place. May 20, 2008 - Lake McConaughy Nebraska

HI everyone, We have had a great adventure the last couple of days. Van told me to pick something different, so we head from Colorado to Nebraska to Lake McConaughy. I knew it was a six mile long dirt road to get to Eagle Canyon Campgrounds. We never expect what we got. The road was so small we bearly fix across it and if we would have met another vehicle we would have been in trouble.
