Jul 7, 2011 - Travel Day - Greenwood, Nebraska
Travel day from Henderson, Nebraska (Prairie Oasis Campground) to Greenwood, Nebraska (Pine Grove RV Park). Only 80 miles, we was to stay at the FamCamp at Offutt AFB but due to flooding of the Missouri River they had to close the FamCamp. And this is as close as we could get to Omaha. So here we are at this place and personally we would not recommend it but we had no choice this time. Will keep you posted about our visit to the area and also with Gwen, John and Aaron. God bless Ken and Fran

Jun 20, 2011 - Start of the Real trip
Left Quincy at 11:10 after doing a bunch of laundry and filling the LP tanks and putting Momma B's groceries away. We were forced to detour in Missouri on I29 north at exit 110 Rockport due to the Missouri River flooding in NW Missouri and SW Iowa. We had to go about 30 miles out of our way and when we got back on I29 we had to go all the way up to Council Bluffs, Iowa/Omaha, NE to cross the river. So much for our plans for spending the 1st night in Nebraska City, NE. We stopped SW of Omaha at a Flying J for supper, which was interrupted by...

Oct 2, 2010 - a banner day following a blah! one
We were up early and, without realizing, hurrying around to get out of this campground and on the road. It’s difficult to explain, but the place just did not have a good feeling. Not spooky or sad, but it really depressed me for some reason. There was really something “off” about the place. So we were on the road by 8:15! Note to self: it is not wise for people with long hair to try and manage the dog on a leash, a lit cigarette, a cup of coffee, and a “poop” bag at the same time -- singed hair is the ultimate outcome. There is a lot of...

Jul 20, 2009 - June 12-19, 2009 Greenwood, NE
Pine Grove Campground This is a nice campground but a bit out of town. The owners are really nice and come around occasionally for a chat. The place is packed and will be the whole time we are here as the College World Series is in town!! Bob is a friendly sort and gets to meet the neighbors soon after we move in. One of our neighbors here, Kenny, was really chatty and proceeded to give us 2 general admission tickets to the series. Thank you, Kenny! Opening day we got a feel for what the procedure was to get upgrade tickets and where to...

May 26, 2009 - All Night Long
So, we left at 9:45 and literally drove all night long. We stopped for gas at 2:30 a.m. and then both boys were wide awake ready to talk and play. Luckily they went back to sleep. Darin drove and I tried to help him stay awake, but I think the diet coke helped more than I did. Everything went really well except that we couldn't go as fast as Mapquest thought we should go so our 13 hour trip took 19 to get to Nebraska. OH WELL!! The boys were great. Here a few pictures ...

Oct 1, 2008 - Greenwood, Nebraska
Wednesday, October 1, 2008 Looking at Elk Horn, the Iowa State Capitol, Jordan House, Winterset, and the Bridges of Madison County was all part of our stay in Adel, Iowa. It was 55˚, windy, and mostly sunny when we left Des Moines West KOA. The time was 10:27 am. We began by going on CR-P58 and merged onto I-80 West. At Exit 60 we stopped for diesel outside of Atlantic. We had gotten 6.8 mpg. Eventually we entered Nebraska, our 43rd state. As we did so, we crossed over the Missouri River! The speed limit returned to being 75 mph. It had...

Aug 17, 2008 - Cruising Down The Missouri River
From Pine Grove RV Park – Greenwood, NE For the past two days, we have just enjoyed being around the trailer and “chilling”. Rudy needed some blood work done before his doctor appointment in September, so we drove over to a Quest Diagnostic Center in Lincoln to get that done. Then, we went by Wal-Mart for a few items. On the way to Wal-Mart, we saw an RV dealership that carried NUWA HitchHikers so we stopped in to see some of the new 2009 floor plans in person. After looking, we decided that we still liked ours best and of course ours is...

Aug 13, 2008 - Sarpy County History, Whimsy & Nostalgia
From Pine Grove RV Park – Greenwood, NE Today was one filled with driving the back roads of Sarpy County, Nebraska. Our drive took us to Papillion, the County Seat with a population of 16,363. Other smaller communities on our drive were Springfield at 1,450 and Louisville with only 1,046 populations. The largest city on our route was Bellevue with 44,382. A day like today brings amazement when one discovers hidden treasures in small communities that lie just off the main thoroughfares traveled by motorists going just from point A to point...

Aug 10, 2008 - "Excursion"?
From Pine Grove RV Park – Greenwood, NE Our anticipation had grown for today’s 1920s vintage train ride on the Fremont & Elkhorn Valley Railroad. It was advertised as come and experience a way of travel out of the past aboard vintage rail cars on our one of our excursion trains departing Fremont arriving Nickerson and return with the round trip taking 3 ½ hours. Sounds good right? WRONG! First, the train was to board at 1 PM, leaving at 1:30 after hooking on to some cars for those that chose to have dinner aboard while the train traveled...
