Aug 19, 2011 - Great Times With Our Nebraska/Texas Friends

We headed out west on I-80 on the 19th towards Lexington, NE. Johnson Lake is a beautiful lake just south of Lexington, before Elwood. On our way we stopped for lunch at The Great Platte River Road Archway in Kearney, NE. It is the only museum built over an interstate. It was well worth the stop. We continued on towards Lexington. We went to see our friends we’ve made from Texas in our RV Park. Bob and Barb were the work campers the parked us the first year we were in Texas. Pretty much the rest is history. They’ve become great friends....

Jun 11, 2010 - Elwood, NE & Johnson Lake State Park

Our next stop was Johnson Lake State Park in Elwood, NE. It was another very nice park with a great view of the water. We only spent 3 days here and managed to survive one of the scarier tornado warnings of our trip. It was a little scary being woken up at 1:00 in the morning by heavy rains and winds that we were certain we're going to carry us off to the land of OZ!!

Going Down MC's-LANE

Jun 9, 2008 - East To Elwood Nebraska

6/9 Love the flatness of Nebraska. The turbo only ran twice from Cheyene to Elwood. Milage increase 3 miles per gallon. great with these high fuel prices . Fuel is still under five dollars a gallon. Entered into the Central Time Zone Our first stop was in Sidney for coffee at Mickey D's. While there, we learned that Sidney was a very important town for the 'gold rushers' to the Black Hills. The railroad seeing the potential of vast riches built a rail system into the Dakotas stealing the traffic from Sidney. An actual Pony Express...
