Oct 9, 2019 - Doniphan, NE

We traveled US 36 to I-29 to Hwy 2 to I-80 into Doniphan, NE just outside Grand Island where we stayed at Grand Island KOA. Getting here was interesting as Hwy 2 has been partially wiped out by all the flooding this area has sustained in the last few months. They have begun reconstruction, but will be sometime before that highway is back to normal. The field flooding along the way was incredibly bad and crop after crop probably lost. We stayed here for three nights as the first major snow storm was predicted to hit west of here. Rain, wind...

/// Red Barn RV Park Tea, SD Sunday - August 27, 2017 A Travel Day: We were pretty much all set and ready to travel except for last minute details. Bob & Beth stopped at the campground to bid us farewell. We departed the Red Barn Campground by 8:00 A.M. Our route today would take us on further south via US81 into Nebraska. Our destination was the KOA Campground in Doniphan, NE. We have stayed here before and it fits well with our travel plans. We made just two rest stops. The weather was great, the road conditions were mostly very good and...

May 16, 2014 - Doniphan, NE

After breakfast, we drive through the Rock Creek State Historical Park. The visitor center is not yet open. We move on. We head back north toward the Platte River. Our first turn puts us on a “Good Gravel” Road. That is what we called it in Alaska. We pass what we think is tall grass. We were told that it would be ten feet tall by July. It is a travel day. We have no planned stops. We pass Hebron. A sign points to the World’s Largest Swing. We miss the turn. We travel a short distance. John asks if we need to stop for gas. I laugh. “Yes,...

Oct 12, 2013 - Doniphan

Really felt like we had rejoined civilization as we traveled East across Nebraska and got into Doniphan, NE, Thursday night. Ran into heavy winds and they followed us into Doniphan. We also found that we had no breaks on the camper, somewhere along the way. After some panicking and panic moments we found that the coupling had become corroded, cleaned it out and all OK again. Wind stayed heavy so we left camper connected to truck, let the rear legs down to stabilize, and left the camper closed up. Worked good except for one tight space at...

Jul 5, 2010 - Interstate 80 Travels (Reno-Grand Island)

Sunday June 20th we left Sparks, NV and drove to Winnemucca, NV to spend a couple of days. The first day we just hung around the park and relaxed. We had a fairly nice trip but when we arrived the car battery had died, so took care of that with help of the park owner & his son. Second day we ventured into town to look for a post office and do some shopping at Wal Mart. Our primary purchase was a new GPS since our old one died on the way into Winnemucca. Also found a nice little place to eat "Flying Pig BBQ." When we returned to the park we...

Ken and Fran - 2010

Oct 5, 2008 - Doniphan, Nebraska

Sunday, October 5, 2008 While staying in Greenwood, Nebraska we visited Boys Town, the National Museum of Roller Skating, and Fort Atkinson State Historical Park. We also did some antiquing. Before helping to hook-up the car, I took some pictures of the drying of the corncobs still on the stalks. There was a cute little rabbit hopping around the area. We left Pine Grove RV Park at 10:26 am with it being 70˚, cloudy, humid, and very windy. The roads were better. Romeo once again came and sat on his rug between us. We began by going east on...
