Jan 1, 2013 - Catching up.

I have been saying now for almost two years that I wanted to get started writing in our travel journal again. So right now I am going to try and give a synopsis of that last two years. We continue to spend our winters down on South Padre Island, and we enjoy being there with so many friends and family; because it is usually one of the warmest places during the winter, we enjoy visits as well. Judi, Greg and family, Patrick, Tina and family, Sara, Lyn, Kim, and Greg, Lori and Dave and others! June of 2011 we took a trip to Nappanee,...

Sep 10, 2012 - Anticipation

Grandpa left us a sizable chunk of money, and my first thought was that rather buy a lot of things with it, I'd like us to have a really memorable experience together. I originally thought of going to the Outer Banks in North Carolina, but I think I was the only one who had any real enthusiasm for that idea. I've also dreamed of going to Hawaii most of my life, but the time doesn't seem right for that either (maybe a 25th anniversary trip?) A roommate from BYU, Penny Evans, was from Canada and I remembered her talking about her family's...

Aug 31, 2012 - August - Offutt AFB, Nebraska

Most of our time has been spend with the grandson, Aaron and his family, our daughter Gwen and son-in-law, John. Thought that was funny to word it that way. When we arrived at Offutt FamCamp Gwen, John and Aaron came bearing food, that was good because both of us was hungry. We have gone to church with them a couple of times and had a couple of cookouts at their home. Oh, also we was at the base with Aaron when the president's plane was there because he was using Offutt AFB for his plane as he visited Iowa and their state fair -- causing...

Jul 6, 2010 - Bellevue, NE

We got back to Bellevue (I29/Hwy34 Campground) at about 7:30 pm on Tuesday. The park is convenient, and has full hookups. We left Hudson early because we had an appointment at a Newmar Dealership in Nora Springs, IA to get our inside steps fixed. While we were there we bought some other supplies for the motorhome. I had planned a day on the road just in case we had to be at the dealership most of the day, but we were in and out in an hour, so we drove into Bellevue. During our two weeks here, we were busy with the kids and grandkids. We...

May 2, 2010 - Bellevue, Nebraska

We arrived in Bellevue around 2:00 in the afternoon, the weather was good and the drive very easy. We are going to stay at Haworth Park on the Missouri River, right down the street from Ginny and Brandee. We plan to stay here for three nights, they just have electric and water and no discounts for extended stays. The rate is $20 per night for 30 amp. The plan was to go to Brandee and Justin's once we got set up, and Ginny and Dave and the kids will be there as well. Needless to say, our "homecoming" was awesome! It was so good to see...

Not much today, just drove through rolling hills from our campsite at the Jewel County State fishing Lake, through Kansas, up into Nebraska and then across to Offutt Air Force Base, on the south side of Omaha. Boring day, but still beats working anytime.

We arrived at Offutt AFB on 22 September. We will be vending here until 4 Oct. We went into Omaha and toured downtown. They have a complete covered wagon statue display that is absolutely beautiful. I will download some of the pictures we took. The weather here is really nice too. (MG) ..............We ran out of product to sell on Tues, Sept. 29th. Our supplier was doing fiscal year-end inventory for Sept. 30th so couldn't order. We'll stay here and tour some of the area, etc. and leave as planned on October 5th to go to Ft. Riley, KS

The Groth Adventures

Aug 8, 2009 - Bellevue, Nebraska

Yea! We finally made it to Nebraska to see Gwen, John and of course Aaron. We stayed busy from them, because we picked Aaron up from kid's club every day and enjoyed every second. One day we took him bowling and then we went to Aaron's cub scout's pool party. Another day we took him golfing (just to the driving range) and had lunch at the club house. On Wednesday Ken, Fran, Gwen and Aaron drove to Laurel, Iowa to see Ken's sister, Bea. Ken's brother, Dick drove down from Arnold Park, Iowa so we had a nice lunch with family. Saturday some of...

May 14, 2008 - Bellevue Blooper

Our trip to Nebraska was uneventful. Lisa drove about half the time (and yes, we are still alive). We sang many songs (there are videos of course) and shared in deep, meaningful conversations about three horned wildabeast that was likely inhabitting the pond that we passed in the Ozarks. We also revisted our childhood during lunchtime feasting on PB & J as well as Butter Cookies, reminiscing that the only appropriate way to eat the cookies was to put them on your finger like a ring and eat the outside first. So for anyone who was following...
