Aug 26, 2019 - Mahoney State Park Aug 26-Sep 1

Eugene Mahoney State Park is located approximately 30 miles west of Omaha, Nebraska. It is huge. Besides picnicking and camping, it has horseback riding, miniature golf, a driving range, hiking/biking trails, a lookout tower, small lakes, one with paddle boats, concession stands, a botanic garden, a theater playhouse, waterpark, tennis courts, Zip lime adventure, special event facilities, cabins that that looked more like large luxury suburban homes, and a main lodge/hotel with a restaurant. We are sure we left off a few other features as...

May 31, 2014 - Omaha - May 2014

May 2014 We rolled into Omaha on April 30 and checked in to the RV park at Bluff’s Run. That completed the circle. Bluff’s Run is where we were parked when we “launched”. Plans to stay at an RV park in Blair were scrapped when we took the YarCar and checked it out. The road to the park is in terrible shape and the park itself does not look like it’s even half ready. We ended up at Pine Grove near Ashland, NE. It’s about 30 miles west of downtown Omaha. It’s not close to anything but the people are nice and it is a pleasant place to stay....

Our drive today was a short one as we headed to Eugene T. Mahoney State Park in Ashland, NE. This is a much larger park than the last two we stayed at and offers a water park among it's amenities. There are many walking and biking trails and they also have horseback rides.

Going Down MC's-LANE

May 6, 2010 - Ashland, Nebraska

We moved to Pine Grove RV Park today, where we plan to stay for a month, until June 6th. We are about 30 minutes from the kids, but we have full hookups. The rate is $375.00 plus tax, and $100 deposit for electricity, the electric will be charged at .15 cents per kilo-watt (double what we pay in Padre). The campground is just off I80. It is pretty nice, as it has a small store and a bar area with big screen TV. The weather is pretty cool, we have had to use our furnace, which really is yuck! We thought we were coming back for spring...

May 9, 2009 - Hoping it will never be over...

We moved out to camp on April 23rd and after just a few days we couldn't imagine being anywhere else. It has now been 2 weeks and still, though we have the highway noise, the trains coming all night long, the fishermen across the creek, we are now settled into a peace that passes all understanding. The freedom from the stuff that bound us, the stuff that controlled the time for cleaning and clearing, just stuff. We arrived home on the 19th and started packing on the 20th. We had cleared out most, but it was time to divide and conquer. It...

Aug 7, 2008 - Enjoying Americana

From Pine Grove RV Park – Greenwood, NE We began the day with a short drive into Ashland and enjoyed breakfast at Cheri-O’s. Combining the taste of a modern coffee shop with the feel of an old-fashioned soda fountain makes for a very charming atmosphere. In the back of the restaurant you can browse around the gift shop filled with local art work, coffee cups and mugs, various coffees and syrups as well as Cheri-O’s memorabilia. Adding to the feel of the restaurant are two themed party rooms on the second floor. “Harold & Thelma’s Basement”...

Home Sweet RV - 2008

Aug 6, 2008 - Nebraska Arrival & Rudy's Dream Come True

From Pine Grove RV Park – Greenwood, NE We arrived yesterday, 8/5, before lunch. Got the rig set up then went to a great little Bar-B-Que place called Parkers; just a few miles from the park. It was wonderful, tender, juicy and plenty of it. We then made a well needed grocery run to the Wal-Mart in Lincoln about 20 miles away. Those high prices of the small town grocers in Iowa left the pantry pretty bare. The rest of the day we just hung around home and the park. Today just the “boys”, Rudy and Sonny, went to the Strategic Air and Space...
