We are camped for the night in the city park in Ainsworth, NE. The journey today took us through northern MO, the western edge of Iowa, and west across Nebraska. We drove about 500 miles. That is a long day for us but we are anxious to get to Custer, SD.where we will meet up with Marcella and Jeff, and Mildred and Doug.Jump to full entry
Aug 6, 2014 - Ainsworth NE – East City Park Campground
Came across a great city park in Ainsworth and stopped for the day. It was a little early, but we ran into several bikers on the way home from Sturgis and we wanted to be sure we got a spot. It’s kind of rainy today, so they may opt for motels over tents, but either way we’ve got a spot for the night. This is quite a city park. They have a pool, baseball diamonds, a running track, 24 horseshoe pits, a basketball/tennis court and more. The only thing they don’t have is a dog run.Jump to full entry
Jul 19, 2009 - Sioux City, Iowa, to Ainsworth, Neb.
Today was a great day. We seem to have found our second wind, along with a blustery Nebraska breeze. “It’s nice to get back to the way the trip was supposed to be,” Scott said. He meant that despite leaving a bland Sioux City, Iowa, bound for the tiny town of Ainsworth, Neb., we made the most of the journey. And that’s what we’ve said all along. It’s about enjoying the whole trip, not just toughing it out in the van from Point A to Point B. There were interesting things to stop for along the way, which made the day’s drive fly by.
