Jun 6, 2011 - Kootenai National Forest, Montana

My travels then took me north up through the Flathead Indian Reservation by Flathead Lake to Kalispell and Whitefish, Montana to the Kootenai National Forest and the little town of Rexford. I had nice weather here with temperatures up into the eighties in the shade but bright sun. I made it a point to walk and/or mountain bike some times both each day that I was there. Once you have a chance to view the pictures from this area of our country you will understand why. I camped in Rexford at a private camp ground just south of Eureka, Montana...

May 21, 2011 - Rexford, Montana

Rexford is a tiny town with a population of about 150 people. It has two restaurants, a post office, gas station and casino. Bessie, the lady who owns the campground we are camping at, told us not to miss the steaks in Rexford, Montana. She was right! They were some of the best we have ever had. EMail us, or respond to us on this TripJournal site to share your guess ... we'll let you know if it is correct. We...

Jul 30, 2005 - Day 2

We left Brigham City, Utah around 8:30 a.m. (NM time) and crossed into Idaho about 9 a.m. To our surprise Idaho is pretty flat farm land surrounded by mountains. We saw hay, potatoes and different types of grain being farmed. Sage brush covers the land that is not being farmed. Got gas in Spencer, Idaho, a one pump town. LITERALLY!!!! Only one pump in town and it's not even at a gas station. We only bought 20 gallons; $48.00; mileage 383. Spencer has opal mines around it. Some gorgeous opals are mined about 6 miles from town. They were...
