May 13, 2013 - Little Big Horn Battlefield and Livingston, MT

We got up and got started to head west. The wind is suppose to pick up this evening so we were trying to our next stop before it does. We also wanted to see the Little Big Horn Battlefield on our way west. It is right off I90. We pulled into the Little Big Horn Battlefield national park with both trailers and the car. We weren't sure where we could park the trucks and trailers while we saw the park. Fortunately there was RV parking at the Visitor Center and we didn't have to take teh back towards the interstate to park them. We went into...

Sep 4, 2012 - Livingstone,Montana, August 23

August 23, Livingstone, Montana Turns out that Yellowstone National Park, although mostly in Wyoming, actually includes parts of Idaho and Montana as well. There are five or six entrances to the park. The ones on the North and East are not as steep or mountainous as some of the other entrances. Having a large RV and towing a car, we did not want to have a huge climb into the park. So, we circled to the North, and decided to enter the park through Montana, from the North, but stayed in a small town in Livingston, Montana. This is a very...

Aug 23, 2012 - Day 94 & 95 Paradise Valley KOA

Day 94: We hung out at the campground. I hit the indoor swimming pool, it was very refreshing. Day 95: Today I did a hike in the national forest to a waterfall. It was a gorgeous hike through a pine forest. It smelled wonderful! It was a a three mile round trip hike, but then I had a four mile walk back to the campground. The road up to the trailhead was really narrow and winding. I didn't want Bal to drive up a second time and there was no room to park the motorhome so he could wait for me.

Aug 21, 2012 - Day 91 - 93 Paradise Valley KOA

Day 91: Today we went golfing at the Livingston Golf and Country Club. Bal beat me by one hole. It's a very flat course, considering we're right next to mountains. You can just see a mountain in the background of the picture, there is a constant haze over the landscape due to all the forest fires out west. Day 92: I went for a walk(no hiking trails close by) along pine creek road and east river road. I was pretty surprised to see wild turkey on the road! This area is built up with many homes scattered amongst the ranches. One home for sale,...

Aug 19, 2012 - Day 89 & 90 Lewis and Clark SP to Paradise Valley KOA

Day 89: Lewis & Clark SP to Livingston MT at the Paradise Valley KOA, 91 miles. We saw deer and antelope on the short drive today. This is another beautiful campground, right on the Jefferson river. We'll be spending eight days here until we head into Yellowstone Park to meet up with Jess, Chris, Soren and Everett! The internet is very slow here and we don't plan on doing too much, so there might only be one or two updates in the coming week. Day 90: At the KOA, relaxing and watching the golf tournament. We might sit in the pool later this...

Jul 8, 2012 - Rafting the Yellowstone River

After the Yellowstone River flows through Yellowstone National Park and creates the beautiful falls in the park, it flows northward toward Livingston, MT. We drove alongside the river during our drive to Gardiner a few days ago and enjoyed watching it swiftly flowing through Paradise Valley. Today we rafted the river with Art and Robin. Since we had two vehicles, we rented the raft in town, left our Jeep at the take out parking lot then took their truck with the raft to the put in. Rather than rent a trailer to transport the raft, we just...

Jul 7, 2012 - OTO Ranch

We (us, Art, Robin) rode our bicycles into town for lunch then explored the parks and neighborhoods along the river in town. It was a fun ride. We also hiked today - Art and Robin had hiked to Oto Dude Ranch that was active in the 1930s and shared that hike with us today. The views of the surrounding mountains were beautiful and the old dude ranch was really interesting to explore. We walked through the main house and the bunkhouses around it and looked at old equipment that was used to maintain the property. Everything was in good repair...

Jul 6, 2012 - Chore Time and seeing friends

Took a couple of days off from seeing and doing things to get some chores done around the RV. Rick had several small projects he wanted to get done and Tina cleaned, washed sheets and did some trip planning. We got a call from some RV friends we met in 2009, Art and Robin Holleman, they are in the area and going to be staying in our campground for a few days! We were both excited when they pulled in late this afternoon....we always have so much fun with them and haven't seen them over a year. We had a great evening catching up with each...

Jul 4, 2012 - Rodeo

Happy 4th of July!! We spent the morning around the RV then walked into Livingston this afternoon. We decided to walk the 3 miles to/from the rodeo rather than fight the traffic and parking. Along the way we made a couple of stops, did some shopping, grabbed a snack and had a wonderful relaxing afternoon. The rodeo started at 8pm but we had general admission and had been told by several people that the latest we needed to get there was 7pm. We found seats along the top row so we could lean against the fence.....those below us had nothing to...

Jul 2, 2012 - Livingston, MT

We.moved to Livingston today....a long driving day of a little over an hour...Rick was happy. The drive was pretty with several snowcapped mountains along the way. Livingston celebrates the 4th with a 3 day rodeo and a parade on the 1st day. We accidentally joined the parade for a block or two today while trying to find the rodeo grounds to buy tickets! We got tickets for the 4th.

Jul 2, 2012 - Livingston

Arrived in Livingston, MT. which is 42 miles North of Yellowstone where we are going tomorrow. Very pretty drive, much like driving thru Switzerland. The KOA is "rustic" but that is not exactly a bad thing. Photo is out the front window. Looks like the Swiss Alps. George
