Jun 30, 2012 - Flathead Lake, MT

I just can’t believe it’s the end of June already…I always heard your days fly by quicker after you retire! We left Missoula and had a short drive up Hwy 93 to the town of Lakeside on Flathead Lake, the largest lake west of the Mississippi. We stopped in the tiny town of Ronan to visit St. Ignatius Mission, a Catholic missionary church to the Indians built in the mid-1800s. This is an overlooked gem along this route, and Steve wasn’t sure he wanted to walk into the church since we were the only vehicle in the parking lot. Well…we made our...

Sep 19, 2009 - Glacier National Park...

Today Larry, Onyx and I traveled once again to see Glacier National Park. We first visited the park in 2006, but the weather was poor and visibility consisted of low lying clouds and sprinkles of rain. In fact, we were forced to turn around at Logan Pass. Today we were blessed with wonderful weather most of our trip. Toward the end of the day we were chased by a small storm and did eventually get a few raindrops. And once we dropped down the far side of Logan Pass, we encountered gusts of heavy wind. Brrr, it was cold for a few of our last...

Sep 18, 2009 - A short drive...

Last night we took a short drive along the shoreline of the lake. We just wanted to relax a bit before dinner. It was such a beautiful evening, a perfect 75 degrees, no wind. We stopped a few times to stretch our legs and take a few pics. Unfortunately, I missed the sunset, as we were in an area that didn't allow lake access at the time. But, we still enjoyed it very much. Afterward, I made tacos for dinner and we watched tv for a bit before hitting the sack earlier than usual. We are going in to Kalispell to do a few errands and take Jeff...

Sep 18, 2009 - Arsenic and Old Lace...

It was a nice relaxing day...well, sort of. Fed-ex arrived first thing this morning with our refrigerator door, thank goodness. Larry had Mickey-Mouse'd it together while we waited for our delivery, but I was positive it was going to land on my toes every time I opened it! Fortunately for me, it didn't. Our priority mail package did not arrive, so we'll be sticking around another day to see if it arrives tomorrow. Can't believe we've been here a week on Sunday already. Anyway, we went into Kalispell early today and stopped at Costco first....

Sep 17, 2009 - Flathead Lake, MT...

It's been a couple of days since we've had Internet. We've known for awhile that we were on a very slow, full satellite but there hasn't been a good time to do anything about it. Our modem was giving us a lot of problem, as was our router. So, we've spent the last 2 days on the phone with Motosat and at the store trying to find a router that works well with our system. After 4 different ones, we are finally satisfied that the current one will do the trick. We also discovered that we need to keep our software up-to-date which was news to us....

Jul 4, 2007 - Flathead Lake Country

We particularly enjoyed the scenery around Flathead Lake so we decided to tour the area on our way home. We stopped at Flathead Lake State Park, Big Arm. There are several State Parks around Flathead Lake and this one is called Big Arm because it is on the Big Arm of Flathead Lake. We found out that because we have a Montana license we can get into the State Parks free so that was good news. The park was full of people enjoying the 4th. The campground at this park was different, as you can see by the pictures. People just parked wherever...
