Aug 14, 2011 - camped over Kalispell, Montana
August 14, 2011 camped over Glacier Pines in Montana It was a hang around the camper day, I did laundry again as it’s cheap here, then cleaned the RV, we ran to the grocery store, this store is cheap up here so we are taking advantage of it before we leave tomorrow, we got Salmon for $3.98 a pound and everything is so reasonable, first time we have seen that in awhile, so tonight for dinner is Salmon on the grill, cabbage, beets and Buddy got himself a couple stuffed mushrooms. Weather today 91.

August 13, 2011 camped over Glacier Pines Went down town to the local Farmers Market, then went to some more yard sales today and to a swap meet, which ended up not being good, there was only 10-12 stands in there and they charged to get in so we figured it wasn’t worth it, checked out a couple local stores. We went to a Mexican restaurant tonight for dinner and it was very good (missed you Judy). Weather today up to 87.

August 12, 2011 camped over Glacier Pines in Kalispell, Montana We hit some yard sales this morning on our way to Whitefish, Montana, which was a quaint little town and they just happen to be having an arts and craft sale downtown, most everything was very expensive. We had lunch at Piggyback BBQ, (finally some BBQ) and it was good BBQ. We did some shopping on the way home at a few stores, Buddy was able to get a haircut then a stop at the grocery store and done for the day. Weather low 80’s.

August 11, 2011 traveled 38 miles today Glacier Pines Campground in Kalispell, MT Happy 27th Anniversary to us! Woke up this morning to 46 degrees outside, boy I am going to miss this when we have to leave. We moved to a campground with full hookups, figured tanks were getting full, and was about to run out of fresh water plus we were ready for some conveniences. I did laundry and Buddy did some running around and came back with 27 beautiful roses, he is so good to me. We went out for a GREAT Italian Dinner, everything we had tasted to...

Jul 24, 2011 - Mechanical Problems continue – add "Mechanic" problems, too
Today is Sunday and it look’s like we will finally be moving on tomorrow. We have had an ordeal getting the truck fixed. We thought maybe it was going to work out pretty good when the garage called and said the truck was ready on Thursday afternoon. They picked me up and I paid for the work and walked out to my truck. As I am walking up to it, I saw a puddle of antifreeze under it so I walked back in to talk to the manager and tell him I think I still have a leak. As we walked out and looked, he got the mechanic that worked on it and they...

Jul 19, 2011 - Mechanical Problems
The day started funny. As we were getting ready to leave, I decided to brush off the slide covers. After being under the trees for a week, we had accumulated some stuff on them. When I got up there, one was full of rainwater. For some reason 2 of the sides don’t have enough tension or slope to them and this happens. I took a towel and sopped up the water and brushed off the rest of the stuff. Then I found that Carolyn’s rear wheel had come off her bike. I don’t know what caused that. It was the first time I had to put the wheel on her new...

Jul 1, 2011 - Hwy to the Sun Hwy-Glacier National Park
The Elk's lodge* here is really great! We plan to drive the "Going to the Sun" highway from here - at least half-way, but the road is still closed at the top for only the 3rd time-ever (built 1920)...too much snow! Work has started on a 80' snow drift above Avalanche Lake. Health report: Charlie's 2+ week-cough is nearly gone & my swollen face (around left eye) is not quite as bad as it was a couple of days ago....both of us need to get well to enjoy the rest of this trip! *Kalispell population is 21,000 - this Elks lodge is beautiful-also...

Our goal for coming to this area was to visit Glacier National Park, but more about that later. Tony found what sounded like a couple of other points of interest in the 101 THINGS TO DO IN THE FLATHEAD magazine so we decided to check them out. The first was called the Montana Vortex. It is a scientific phenomenon that really blew my mind because I couldn’t understand it. That is why I’m leaving it to Tony to describe. Sue asked me to cover the “vortex” part of our journey so here goes. Many of you may have heard of or visited Mystery Hill...

Jun 30, 2011 - Idaho - Here I Come
This morning Diane and I went out for a big breakfast and drank tons of coffee. We talked and talked hating for the hour to come when we would have to say goodbye. When that time finally came, she drove east to do shopping in Cut Bank and I drove west toward Idaho. It rained quite a bit as I drove through the curvy, sometimes narrow, roads so I decided to stop in Kalispell, rest up, and head to Idaho tomorrow.

Jun 26, 2011 - Montana
June 24 - 26. It’s interesting what happens on the journey between our major destinations. Here I was thinking we would have an uneventful drive between Yellowstone and Glacier Parks, just following the road. It turns out there is plenty to see and do. After leaving Yellowstone we stayed the night in Gardiner, just outside the north entrance, and were treated to a stunning sunset and mountain views. Whoever created sunsets and mountain views deserves a permanent gold star on their hand. At Bozeman we stopped at our favourite bakery, Great...

Jun 14, 2011 - Kalispell, Montana
We have a reservation at a campground in eastern North Dakota for arrival on Monday, but other than that, we are totally wingin' it as we go. Our overnight stopping location becomes identified in the mid-afternoon, after we see where we are & what lies ahead. It is certainly a good thing that there is not a requirement to enunciate or spell the location in which we stop, for if it were, we would have had to have been elsewhere tonight. We again were guests of Uncle Wally, where he sits with a beautiful backdrop of snow-covered mountains....

Jun 8, 2011 - Back in the U.S.
We have safely arrived in Kalispell, Montana. Coming back into the United States was fast and easy. They only asked a few questions and looked at our passports and moved us on through. We will be having some work done on our patio awning while we are here. We have a bad spring on the awning arm. We really miss having that patio and hope they can find the part fast. I have also added a lot of updates catching up on our trip to Canada, starting about 9 days ago. Please be sure to check back to see all the awesome places we visited. Walking...
