Jun 6, 2018 - Rested up and on our way again!

We are back!! And thank you for all the many messages of well wishes for our anniversary yesterday!! We had a nice relaxing day wandering around the very cool downtown part of Missoula and stopped in at Adventure Cycling Association Headquarters! Not sure why it was so exciting, other than of course that is the mission center and driving force behind all of the routes we have enjoyed on our bicycle adventures! Because of the planning and preparation that goes on here, we look so adventurous and capable! It was quite a welcome! First of all...

Sep 15, 2016 - Another Speed Bump... There is a Silver Lining

After leaving McGregor Lake, we drove to Hamilton, Montana for a weeks stay. During our stay there, my computer decided it was time to take a break. Panic time (I thought), I called my son (Robert) & he tried to help me over the phone. We were unable to resolve my issue (a black screen & won't boot up), I had power just no screen. Anyways he says we should be able to get all my files off the hard drive (my silver lining) so we'll worry about the main issue later. While on the phone with him, he ordered a new computer for me & it arrived the...

Sep 25, 2014 - Headed for Hamilton, MT

We left Sunnyside RV Park early the morning of the 25th. We headed north on I15 to Dillon, MT where we headed west on MT 278. We stopped for lunch at the Jackson Hot Springs Lodge in Jackson, MT. We didn't know what to expect. Jackson is small. Don't blink or you will miss it. However the lodge did look nice and we went in. The restaurant is in a very large room with balcony's on the second floor overlooking the eating/dancing area. Their rooms and the entrance to the hot tubs are on the second floor. For being out in the middle of nowhere...

May 17, 2014 - Hamilton, MT

Hooray! Saturday morning 08:30, we pulled out of Agri-fix, Moses Lake and headed for Hamilton, MT for a one night stay to visit Bob's sister and family. The road was good but did hit a little construction but nothing bad. We travelled I90 thru Spokane and then into Idaho over 4th of July Pass and Lookout Pass (still lots of snow), where we entered Montana. The rig ran great and was an uneventful trip until we hit Missoula. The traffic through Missoula was terrible (bumper to bumper); sometimes it took three light cycles to get through one...

Sep 8, 2013 - Hamilton, Montana

Hamilton, MT Hamilton is such a cute, quaint town, but I’ve been told that it has its less than angelic side. For example, it only has a population of 5000 soooo people know you and know your business and, dang it, you can’t go anywhere without running into someone you know. So much for autonomy! As we were navigating ourselves thru the Bitterroot Valley, we noticed that every other street sign also had a National Forest emblem and an arrow pointing to a trail head. There were also pictures of fish on brown signs with arrows pointing down...

Jul 15, 2012 - Sunday with Susie and Sue

We finally did it. We ate a buffalo burger! It was so big, that we had to split it. It was really good, I couldn't tell the difference from good beef, but Janice said that she could tell the difference. It was much leaner tasting than a beef burger. We spent the rest of the day just hanging out with Aunt Susie and Sue. Before getting out for the morning, we got all of the laundry washed, read a few chapters and just relaxed. Tomorrow it's off toward Seattle.

Jul 14, 2012 - Missouri Headwaters to Hamilton, MT

We woke up this morning to many mosquitoes, so we sprayed ourselves to keep them away from Karen. She really doesn't like getting bit by them. She has welts that stay for days when they do, and she has enough already. We stayed in the Missouri Headwaters State Park, where they have pit toilets, no dump station, and no trash pick up service. The temperature was quite pleasant with overcast skies. We made our way to the headwaters where the Missouri starts at the confluence of the Jefferson, Madison, and the Gallatin Rivers. There were a few...

Aug 3, 2011 - Bitterroot Valley Montana

I certainly was NOT expecting to do an update after our short stay [only two full days] in Hamilton, MT. We stopped here because it was midway between our last location and our next, week-long stop. It also gave us a few more hours in the state we have come to really enjoy. However when we checked into the campground, we were given a publication - 101 THINGS TO DO in the BITTERROOT VALLEY. We decided to check it out and quickly made a list of places we wanted to investigate. Sadly we never made it to an Alpaca farm but we did ride the East...

Oct 16, 2010 - Hamilton MT Bitterroot River

Time to head south, I have eaten everything in the Caraway house and gained 10 lbs. We have had homemade bread for every meal, scones, rolls, muffins plus homemade desserts, fresh peach pie and cake with ice cream. Although Milton loved Molly, he would not trade her for Shirlene, and I understand why. I had a wonderful visit, swapping old family stories and seeing the countryside around Kalispell. I planned on driving south on Hwy 93 to Dillon stopping at the Big Hole Battlefield National Site, but the Bitterroot River caught my eye. I...
