May 24, 2012 - At the border

Silverado RV Park Made it to within 7miles of the border. A long day. Our trip begins after we cross into Canada. Up til now it was getting from point A to point B. Drive was interstate to Missoula - but good roads and nice scenery. Valleys, rolling hills and mtns. Had a little spitting of snow in a few spots (very little). Had a little glitch with campground. I couldn't connect with original place so I called Wade's sister who lives in Eureka and she gave me the name of this place. From the front it looks like a two bit motel but the RV...

Jun 1, 2011 - Eureka, Montana

Woke up to a good rain and took advantage of a break in the rain and hooked up the car to head toward the Canadian border. We went as far as Eureka Montana which is a typical small tourist town. We are only a few miles from Roosville border crossing. We are staying at the Blue Mountains RV park and are parked in a big open field that feels like we are in someone's back yard. Not complaining as we have full hook ups and its very quiet and peaceful. The sun was out all afternoon and then at dinner time it started raining. You can tell we...

May 26, 2011 - West Kootenai & More

We have really enjoyed our stay in Eureka. I am doing a catch-up today of all the places we have visited in the last few days. This will be out last update from the area. Our drive today took us to a unique Amish community called West Kootenai. The Amish here are totally different from most we have seen. They drive cars...we saw a lot of horses, but no buggies. We passed a couple of ladies in the little hats in cars and were shocked. :-) We visited the local grocery store and enjoyed seeing all the unique items for sale. After the store...

May 20, 2011 - Moving Day

We moved today to Eureka, Montana. It was only a sixty mile drive. We are only a few miles from the Canadian border. We will be exploring a few of the tiny towns in the area over the next week or so, then moving on to the Canadian side of Glacier National Park. This area is absolutely beautiful with green grass and wild flowers blooming. I have slow Sprint in the area, more pictures will be added later.

May 3, 2011 - Eureka, Montana

We have been busy checking out areas in Montana that are close to the Canadian border. We want to park somewhere near and be able to go in and out for exploring parts of British Columbia and Alberta. Today we visited Eureka, Montana. It is only a few miles to the border. It seems to be the perfect spot for our next move. It is surrounded by beautiful mountains and has some of the most unique stores we have seen. We visited one today and are saving the rest for later. :-) It also has a very cool museum and lots of great restaurants, one is...

Aug 23, 2010 - Back in the lower 48

Well, after a really nice trip through British Columbia and Alberta we arrived back in the USA yesterday evening. We saw some wonderful scenery during our trip back to include camping the other night at the Ice-fields Campground in Jasper National Park. The campground was directly across from an enormous glacier. 39 degrees when we woke up. We also stopped at Lake Louise and took in the beautiful scenery there. We are spending a few days here as a result of a brake problem with our 5th wheel. We have the parts coming Fed-X on Wednesday. We...

Aug 23, 2009 - Plane ride over Glacier

We met a great couple from SC by way of introduction from other friends we know in North Carolina. They are fulltime Rvers like us and have been moving around the US for several years now. The first time we had a chance to meet them in person was here in Glacier where both of us landed at the same time. We had pizza and beers at a nice restaurant a couple of nights ago and compared traveling notes and life on the road. We determined that all of us were interested in taking a plane ride over Glacier Park to see the beauty from above, so our...

Aug 22, 2009 - Big Bubba Cheeseburgers and Canada

Don't laugh ... we are serious here ... the Big Bubba Cheeseburger from Eureka, Montana was just named the best cheeseburger in AMERICA this week! Regis and Kelly show held a contest and The Cutting Board in Eureka won 1st place for best cheeseburger. So of course we had to go check it out for ourselves. Guess what - it WAS terrific!!! The Cutting Board was an adorable little place on Main Street in Eureka. Art ordered the famous burger, but I ordered a salad, fearing that the Bubba was going to be a super sized burger with lots of cheese...
