Jul 6, 2018 - Moving Day

Our five day stay outside of West Glacier worked out perfect for accessing the western areas of the Park but we also wanted to visit the more visually stunning eastern flanks around St. Mary's and Many Glacier. So we packed-up the TARDIS and drove about an hour north to Glacier Meadows RV Park, a very rural park.

Jul 5, 2018 - Glaicer

July 5 - 210 mi to Glacier N.P., found 3 nights with hookups at Stanton creek, after having past the continental divide with no towing issues. It is a very small place but has a bar/restaurant reminiscent of the White Wolf Inn in Straton. Very hot, 100 in shade, 90 in trailer without air conditioner on yet. No radio station; this is first time camping that none at all could be found. Note the bear proof garbage containers and 'big log' cabin construction, such that no chinking was required.

Jun 26, 2015 - Essex, MT

Fri, 26 Jun: A short day's drive... Today's drive is a "shortie", only 54½ miles. We relocated from the Kalispell Elks Lodge to a full-service campground closer to the eastern gateway to Glacier National Park. We want to see the Many Glaciers section of the park while we're here and this seems to be a good place from which to do so. Since we didn't have to vacate our site at the Elks Lodge till noon, we had little incentive to get going at dark o'clock in the morning. We did that earlier in the week and we're still trying to recover....

May 2, 2014 - Reflections

I got up early this morning, just before dawn, and headed over to Lake McDonald in Glacier to try to get some calm conditions on the lake. Usually early in the morning the water is smooth enough to get great reflections. I wasn’t disappointed this morning. The conditions were perfect. I got a zillion pictures, but I won’t bore you with all of them. I’m sure you will agree that the area around Lake McDonald is beautiful. I’m sorry weren’t able to get further into the park. We’ll have to return during the summer. Since I didn’t eat breakfast...

Jul 17, 2013 - Glacier Revisited

Our return was to complete the Going-to-the-Sun Road, which was closed when we were here in June, Logan Pass to Avalanche Campground. and Many Glaciers which was not fully open either. The pictures here will be of that part of Going-to-the-Sun Road that we did not see before. With both of us taking pictures we have over 400 on this 50 mile stretch of USA highway. I will state again that no Camera, individual skills, or expertise can capture the beauty that abounds in Glacier National Park. It is so beautiful Anna was having a hard time...

Jul 5, 2013 - Beautiful Drive To Glacier And Going To The Sun Road

Today we were up and headed north towards Glacier National Park. Beautiful drive! Got a little lost finding our RV park, not GPS problem, mine, I had punched in wrong address. Once we found it, it was beautiful! Setting in a meadow with mountains on all sides. Some snow topped. Pretty much just kicked back for the rest of the day. We will be here until the 10th. Enjoyed visiting with our neighbors from Arizona. We have no wifi, phone or TV. Can't believe how dependent we've become on these things. Ended up being a very quiet 4th. Some kids...

Jun 4, 2013 - Little Big Horn, Great Fall MT, Glacier NP

Friday May 31, 2013 we got out of Buffalo WY. about 11: am and drove in a rain and a real strong wind. We only had 120 miles to go and made here about 1:30 pm. This is a real nice park and is only a few miles from Custer Battlefield Museum and The Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument. We are going to try to visit them tomorrow. I know, this sounds like a broken record but it is still raining and the wind is blowing real hard and the temperature is about 48 degrees at about 6:00 pm. Saturday June 1, 2013, rain has stopped and the...

This post may not appeal to everyone, but we really enjoy these photos of the 2011 spring flowers as we moved from Texas to the northwest and along the northern states. These are 33 of 88 photos. If you like them say so and I’ll post more of them. We are back on Dauphin Island, Al for the month of September.

Jul 23, 2011 - Glacier National Park - Montana

Wow... Glacier Park was wonderful. The snows this year were 175% more than normal and the Road to the Sun, which passes through the park, did not open until July 13th.! Even then there was a lot of reconstruction going on that cause 20 min delays. However, while we stopped on a hair pin turn a small herd of mountain goats came down the slope to lick the salt along the side of the road and came right up to us. At the same spot marmots were playing along side. I broken up the photos into vistas, water features, critters along the way, and...
