Dec 4, 2011 - We're B-a-c-k!

Hip, hip, hurray! We are back in the land of connectiveness!!!!! We left Thanksgiving behind, traveling to Truman Lake, Long Shoal Campground for three nights. The first two nights there two other rigs there. The third night we were the only other rig (other than the camp host). I have a couple of pictures from there but will download another night when it isn't so late! This past Tuesday, November 29, we drove to my mother's. She has a wonderful spot for us to park. The downside is there is no wireless connection; this stay neither cell...

Nov 28, 2011 - Our View

Finally the weather allowed a photo out the front window. Truman Lake is in view on three sides of the motorhome. More later. We have enjoyed watching the birds at the feeder the past two days. Our feathered friends have enjoyed and appreciated the sunflower feast. Birds seen at the feeder or in the immediate area are: white breasted nuthatch black capped chickadee tufted titmouse downy woodpecker red bellied woodpecker northern flicker red headed woodpecker American goldfinch purple finch eastern bluebird bald eagle (1 mature, 1...

Nov 26, 2011 - Can You Say "Hibernation"

"Hibernation"...the act of burrowing indoors, away from the cold, windy rain! That is exactly what we have done today! The rain started about midnight, and didn't stop until about five this afternoon. The wind howled and whipped up whitecaps on the lake in front of us. During breaks in the rain there were downy woodpeckers, juncos (you might know them as snowbirds), titmice, and white-breasted nuthatches at the sunflower seed feeder hanging in the persimmon tree just out the window. Yesterday there was a flock of a dozen bluebirds all...

Nov 25, 2011 - Roly-Poly *****

Roly-poly...that is how I feel today! oh my goodness, what a wonderful meal yesterday. It's back to salads, and vegetables, and no dessert (my favorite)! We enjoyed breakfast with Trisha and Jeff before they headed to Arkansas. Then, it was time to load up the motorhome and leave the comfort of Gary and Evelyn's driveway. Have I mentioned what a wonderful visit we had with them over the past couple of weeks??!! It was time to move: the propane was empty and the storage tanks were full. There was a propane business in Adrian who filled the...

Sep 19, 2011 - Warsaw, Missouri

9/19 – 9/24 You should have heard the racket coming from our roof as we pulled out of Indian Creek. Hundreds of acorns were rolling over, and finally off, our roof. In 190 miles (US24, SR41, US65, SR83) we arrived at the next COE park called Osage Bluff in Warsaw, Missouri. Another excellent site with a view of Harry S Truman Reservoir. While in the area we: >checked out the town of Warsaw and had an excellent 4 star lunch at El Camino Real (120 W. Polk Street 660-438-9994). Both the chili rellenos and carna asada burritos were delicious....

Apr 1, 2007 - Camp Hosting at Harry S Truman State Park

Well, it's time to move again. We're headed west and south to Warsaw, Mo. and Truman State Park located on Truman Lake. We will be camp hosting here for the next 4 months. We were greeted by Judy, the assistant administrator, who escorted us to our site. While we were setting up, we met the couple we will be hosting with. Gene & Kay Markes are from Marshall, Mo., and have been coming here for the last 5 years. Little did we know at the time how good of friends we all would become before the summer ends. As I said, Gene & Kay have been...
