May 24, 2012 - Still Here
After some discussion we decided that it wasn't worth the hassle to get up at 5:30 this morning, hopefully find an empty site, and move the motorhome. We elected to sleep in, pay for one more night at this site, and move to Poplar Bluff in the morning. Other than that, it has been a quiet day. We have made a couple of decisions about places to be in the next few weeks. The malady associated with full time r-vers has set in: Hitch Itch. We are ready to be on the road, headed to new places. Monday we are headed to Little Rock, Arkansas....

May 23, 2012 - It's Been That Kind of Day!
Can you say...."did nothing!' It's been that kind of day. Okay....I did clean out the inbox of my email account. Does that count for anything? Glen made hotel...yes I said "hotel", reservations for us in July. The Vietnam Veterans reunion this year is in Washington DC. There are no nearby campgrounds. The hotel will allow us to park the mh in their parking lot if we stay in the hotel. I requested by cell phone, received by email an application to extend my driver's license due date, signed it, and returned it by fax to the state of SD....

Sep 10, 2011 - And the Winner Is....
Today was the annual picnic hosted by Glen's (former) place of employment...M & A Electric Power Cooperative. It is a time for current and retired employees to come together and catch up on happenings. Glen not only liked his job; he appreciated what the cooperative had (has) to offer...much more than salary and benefits...a necessary service to people...electricity. We can both remember living in homes without electricity and the excitement of turning on that first switch. M and A was a great place to work for 37 years. There are two...

Sep 9, 2011 - One of our favorite campgrounds
We assisted Darin with a few items this morning, then returned to the motorhome where we prepared to travel to the east a few miles. We are at Lake Wappapello, MO, just 25 minutes from Poplar Bluff, our old stomping grounds. It is a good thing we arrived no later in the day. There were three sites available on the west side of Highway T. We drove through Redmond Creek East this evening and there were three sites available there. We observed several rigs drive through this c'ground this afternoon. I am guessing there aren't any available...

Nov 10, 2010 - One Last Day at Lake Wappapello
This has been a great fall day. Temperatures reached the low seventies; there was a gentle breeze to blow around the falling leaves. This morning the couple from across the street came over for a visit...stayed for three hours. Meeting people is one of the best things about rv-ing. The couple was very nice and very interesting to converse with. They are from southwest Missouri and have done a variety of jobs. The wife had two episodes of stage four cancer and lost a kidney, all without health insurance. They lost their farm as a result of...

Nov 9, 2010 - Inhale, sniff, smell that campfire!
All appointments in Poplar Bluff have been taken care of! We motored to Lake Wappapello, MO this morning. We found a campsite at Lake Wappapello and will be here for a few more days. It was a wonderful afternoon to sit outdoors around a campfire watching the leaves fall to the ground and an occasional squirrel find a hickory nut. We look forward to a bright sunshiny Wednesday, doing whatever....taking a walk and who knows what else will come our way!

Jun 23, 2010 - Home Again
We are back in SE Missouri and at our campsite at Lake Wappapello. We left Matt and Leslie's about 8:30am and went to the post office....we had lots of mail. I had a 9:15 appointment for a massage with Garry. I made a quick stop at McDonald's to get Elgin breakfast and it was nice enough that he waited outside. He read the AARP magazine. The massage really helps, but I think it is going to be a while before I get another one. We have several appointments next week....all of them in Cape Girardeau. Elgin sees the cardiologist on Wednesday....

Apr 5, 2010 - Driving back to Lake Wappapello
Another long day on the road. We went to get mail and the cleaning before we left St. Louis. I meant to stop at Home Depot but I did not remember until we passed the exit and there is not another Home Depot between Festus, Mo. and the lake. There are two Lowe's, but no Home Depot. But we can go to the one in Poplar Bluff, Mo.....about 15 miles from here....maybe tomorrow or the next day. We did stop at Cape and went to the mall. Had a couple of things to pick up there. We had planned on going to The Pasta House, but they moved(from the mall...

Apr 1, 2010 - April Fools Day
Happy April fool's Day!!!. Other than my niece trying to make everyone believe that she was pregnant with twins again...it was a pretty normal day. It was absolutely beautiful in SE Missouri....almost 80 degrees, a slight wind ,but after the winds in Texas, it seemed more like a light breeze. We cleaned out the basement of the trailer. We had everything in there but the kitchen sink for our winter in Texas and it was time to unload it and put it in the storage shed that we have here at the lake. We keep this spot year round and the owners...

Mar 31, 2010 - Leaving St. Louis
We drove back from St. Louis today. We left Matt and Leslie's house at 9:00am and Jack took Elgin to get a hair cut and I picked up the cleaning and the mail. I met them at Rise and Dine in Arnold, Mo. for breakfast and then we all went to the storage unit to get Jack's soft top for his jeep. Then we both went our separate ways. Elgin and I drove thru the farms in Matthews, Mo. ....having some thoughts on doing something there with a few acres...need more research. We went to Dexter and checked on my Dad. He actually looked a little better...

Mar 30, 2010 - Happy Birthday Abby
Abby is 5 years old today. I don't remember being 5 years old...other than starting school and not wanting to leave my mother. Now children are in school long before they start kindergarten. Abby is fortunate because her mother is a director of a child care Center(A Goddard school) and has been since the day she was born. So she has literally gone to work with her mother almost every day. And as a grandmother , I worried a lot less about my grandchildren, knowing that their mother was always close by. Layne's first day of "real" shool was...

Mar 29, 2010 - Life in the Fast Lane
We were up at 7:00 am and hit the ground running. We did take time for a cup of coffee and breakfast for Elgin was a frozen Bob Evan's breakfast sandwich and I had a bowl of cereal. I finished up all the door and drawer pulls.....63 of them. The 64th one is going to be a little tricky. You cannot get to the screws because shelves are glued(or so it looks to me) to the inside of the pantry door. Anyone with a mobile suites have any suggestions??? I did another load of laundry and packed us for a 2 night trip to the city. We were showered...
