Nov 13, 2012 - Roaring River State Park

We visited the Roaring River State Park today, it is about 35 miles from Branson. We could not believe our eyes when we parked our car and walked over to view the river. It is absolutely packed with huge trout. The water is a beautiful clear blue, you can see the bottom of the river, it flows naturally from the Roaring River Spring nearby. It has a series of waterfalls and is breathtaking. We spoke with the rangers in the area. They said you can fish daily for $7. In the spring you get to keep what you catch, but in the winter it's catch...

Aug 31, 2011 - Mistakes were made....

430 Miles today. 105 degrees. Do the math. That thing about drinking water and keeping hydrated or you may pass out...who knew it was true. I will get to that later. Mistake #1: Start early. Yes, Ginger, you were right. We started out from Des Moines at 8:17 a.m. All was good. RV packed, cycles loaded. We were on our way. We got to Princeton MO to meet up with Donna and Peg. They got a later start than expected. Susy and I waited until about 12:30 for them to arrive. Meanwhile Larry and Uncle Bob started off down the road. Which leads us to...

Jan 9, 2007 - Arrived in Eureka Spring, AR

We unhitched our rig at the Pea Ridge Garden RV "park" and headed on to Eureka Springs to stay with Geri's sister and brother-in-law. They have a beautiful log cabin right on Beaver Lake and we took advantage of their hospitality and guest room for several days.

Jun 25, 2006 - Branson, MO

The kids just love driving through Missouri. It's legal to ride in the camper (in Missouri), so all three kids, Laura, Jessi, and Josh, rode in the camper, played battleship, hijacked the fridge, and had a grand ole' time. Our spot in the Wilderness campground couldn't have been more perfect. We're tucked off the end of the loop where there isn't much traffic. Our spot is huge, but the three on one side of us could only handle a small pop-up and the 10 or so on the other side are primitive tent sites (no electricity/water).

Jun 23, 2006 - Branson, Day 2

Today was interesting. After the normal medicine and food thing they do for me, I settled in for some additional beauty sleep. Mom and Dad went to some sort of Registration thing. They seemed all excited about it but I couldn't figure it out. Later I heard someone knocking on our doors. They were lucky they didn't try to come in because I might be sweet and easy going but I can be an "attack cat" if need be. Turns out it was a friend of Mom and Dad's named Christy. She came to the Rally too and was just dropping by to visit me. It seems I'm...

May 9, 2006 - Eureka Springs, Arkansas

After saying good bye to Bob & Pat we once again headed North to Eureka Springs, AR. We love this little tourest town. We always stay at Wanderlust Campground as it not only is a very nice campground, but the people that operate it are some of the most friendly we have met. Just down the road from the camground is the location of the Great Passion Play which chronicles the last week of the life of Christ. We did not go to the play this year, but did get pictures of a couple of its attractions. The Christ of the Ozarks is approx 70 feet tall...

Jun 25, 2005 - Branson to Eureka Springs, AR

Today we said goodbye to Branson and moved Homer to Eureka Springs, Arkansas, where we met our good friends John and Myrna Fields, who have a lake home in nearby Shell Knob, Missouri. They were accompanied by their son, Steve, and a couple from Weatherford, Texas, John and Myrna's home town. We drew on the good nature of the Barkers and asked to break out of our caravan at this point, allowing us—and them—maximum flexibility to make the homeward leg as needed to allow for our visit with the Fieldses. LouAnn determined that she would,...

Mar 19, 2005 - Purchased our Mobile Suites in Eureka Springs, Arkansas

Lee and I love to travel and we do it as often as we can. Somewhere during our travels it just dawned on us that we could just live in an RV and travel like gypsies wherever we wanted. We talked about it for years, visited RV shows and dealers whenever we traveled and finally made the decision that we actually were going to become full-timers. We sold our home in 2004 and downsized like crazy to move into an apartment. Then we started looking in earnest for our next home - something on wheels! After researching and visiting RV shows we...
