May 27, 2012 - Saying "Good-Bye"

We attended worship service at our church this morning. It was good to be greeted with smiles and hugs. We have been gone for nearly five years; it is also good to be remembered! :} After church we drove to Cape Girardeau, meeting our son Darin and wife Sarah, and grandkids Ashlynn and Zade for lunch at "Tapatio's", a new Mexican restaurant across the side street at Walgreens. The food is delicious, and the service prompt. Secondary to the visit with our family was the need to pick up mail that had come to their house after we left Cape...

May 26, 2012 - Friends

We had a "first" today. We went to the local WalMart, in Poplar Bluff where we lived for 37 years, and didn't see a soul we knew! It is hard to believe there wasn't someone from church, work, or school walking around WalMart! :} Today has been a day for visiting with friends. This morning we were blessed to visit with John and Jennifer, and their two boys. John and Glen worked at the electric co-op together; John is one of life's "good guys." John and Jennifer are Christian parents with two wonderful, active boys. We always are glad/happy...

May 25, 2012 - Back "home"! ****Camelot RV Park, Poplar Bluff, MO

We are back to where we lived for 37 years. We lived and worked in Poplar Bluff for 37 years: October 1970 to December 2007. We held an auction in October 2007, selling the contents of the house, living in the motorhome which was parked in the driveway until retirement day..December 21. We drove to the retirement party in the motorhome, attended the party, and drove off into the sunset at the end of the day! We are looking forward to seeing friends and attending church Sunday morning. As we were leaving the site this morning there was a...

Apr 24, 2012 - On the road again....tomorrow

We will be leaving in the morning for Branson!!!!!! Yeah!!!! The Jeep is hooked up, everything but the satellite and electricity is unhooked and stowed away, so if all goes well, we should be on the road by 9:00am or so. Yesterday we went to lunch with our granddaughter at The Bread Company. Jackie and I both had a chef salad that was delicious. I wish we had more time to try some of their other dishes. The menu looked scrumptious. It was a nice time we spent with her away from school and the ballfield, just the three of us. She is such a...

Apr 22, 2012 - Still winning.....

Cendyl's team won both games on the road Thursday. Their bus had a blow-out coming back that night about 9:30, but thankfully there wasn't any damage to the bus and no injuries. The only problem was less study time and Cendyl had a big test and a paper due on Friday. Lots of stress for her. Friday it rained off and on all day and turned very cool. Our lows have been in the low 40's and the high only 52 on Friday. Saturday was clear with lots of sunshine and 65 degrees. A great day for softball. They won both games. Sharon and Todd drove up...

Apr 18, 2012 - Nice weather...

Lows in the 50's and highs in the 70's....loving it!!!!! This is really a nice town. Things are easy to find,(except lawn chairs). Our chairs we bought at Camping World in Texas in 2010 are totally worn out and we have been looking for some more like them. Not happening!!!! We've been to Walmart, Kmart, every hardware store in town, and anyplace else we can think of with no luck. Sharon drove up from Dardanelle on Saturday and we saw Cendyl play 2 games. Won one and lost one. She pitched a complete game in the one they won, and did a great...

Apr 13, 2012 - What A Week!!!!!

Whew....We have had a pretty hectic week. Monday we put the Jeep in the shop to get the rear bumper replaced. Enterprise Rental had a Hundai baby car for us about an hour later. Jackie wasn't happy at all. They also made us put up a $75.00 deposit on it and take additional insurance that was deducted from our deposit. The gas tank was totally empty and barely made it to a station. Today a lady from Enterprise called to see how our experience was, and Jackie let her have it. Bet they won't want to survey us again. But Sorrell's Body Shop did...

Day 2 of our trip to Chanute. We left from Pigeon Forge this morning at 7:30. We arrived in Popular Bluff Missouri at about 3:30. We stopped twice at rest areas for lunch and bio breaks. We at at Maya's Mexican resturant in popular bluff this evening. it was great mexican food, not like we have back home. In the morning we plan on moving on to Chanute KS, another 6 hour drive. The trip has not been bad, although the bridge on Hwy 60 that crosses the Mississippi was very tight. Just keep it straight and don't look back. After eating, we...

Nov 9, 2011 - All check ups are finished!

We finished the medical check ups this morning with a visit to the dental office this morning. We both received good reports. That's it for six more months! We quickly prepared the motorhome for traveling and headed west and north. It is 310 miles from Poplar Bluff to Adrian, MO, south of KC by 40 miles. We arrived about five o'clock and decided to park at the Optimist Building in Adrian. Glen's brother in law is active in Optimist. We have taken advantage of the parking lot other times. We will check out the gravel roads leading to...

Nov 8, 2011 - It is RAINING...I mean, really raining!

The rain has arrived. It started raining about 3:30-4:00. Now at almost ten, there is 3.45 inches in the gauge. The ditches are full and running over the road. It was a perfect...cool and rainy...night for a bowl of chili. Friends invited us for dinner tonight. The meal was great, but the fun with long-time friends even better. Thanks for the great evening. One more set of appointments in the morning...dental. If it is still raining we will be here one more day. If it has cleared, we will be traveling after the dental appointments.

Nov 7, 2011 - Good Health

It is official...the doctor said we are doing great! Today we saw our internist, the doctor who takes care of everything that isn't covered by a specialist. Both Glen and I are doing well. That is always good news and something we don't take for granted. We are concerned for a favorite aunt this week. She is awaiting the results of a liver biopsy. Glen's sister was telling about "subbing" in a kindergarten handicapped class today. There was a boy there who had the same type of surgery that our son and grandson had. This boy evidently had a...

Nov 6, 2011 - Note to Self.... ****

Note to Self: Don't keep grandkids on the night daylight savings time "falls back!" smile-smile :} I say that because the grandkids were up at 5:30 this morning...in the a.m.! I don't really mean that because we sure had lots of fun with them overnight and this morning. We met Darin and Sarah for lunch at Texas Roadhouse, said our goodbyes, and headed back to the RV park. We finished departure procedures, and headed for Poplar Bluff. We have doctor's appointments in the morning, and dental appointments Wednesday. We will have lunch and...
