Dec 28, 2012 - only flurries?

Although the forecast predicted scattered snow showers, it looked like the beginning of a serious blizzard as we packed the final bits into the motor home, hitched up the Jeep, and headed out at 8:30am, positively the crack of dawn for slow pokes like us. The big white flakes hit the windshield for about an hour and then stopped. Central Illinois clearly had a lot more snow last week than we had in metro Chicago, but the pavement was dry. Oct 21, 2012 - Retracing Our Track from July

We headed into Vanita, OK this morning along Route 66 that we traveled in July (west to east this time) with the intention of getting breakfast at Clanton’s Café, a DDD spot, on Route 66, only to find out they don’t serve breakfast on Sundays. Since it was about 1100, it wasn’t too early to eat lunch. Clanton’s has been in business since 1927 and has always had a member of the Clanton family cooking since it opened. Nov 6, 2011 - Phillipsburg

We traveled about 350 miles today along I-70 and I-44 through Indiana and the rolling hills of Missouri. We saw a number of deer, including some VERY nice bucks. One of those rack bucks was among the many dead on the side of the road. WARNING FOR THOSE TRAVELING THIS WAY: SECTIONS OF I-70 BETWEEN INDY AND ST. LOUIS ARE VERY ROUGH - PARTICULARLY IN THE DRIVING LANE!! We are in the Happy Trails RV Park (obviously a former KOA), Exit 123. Fine place for a stopover, 50 amp, WiFi and acorns dropping on your roof. Plenty of road noise however...

May 6, 2011 - Day 32 deeper into MO

Today started with a serious discussion regarding whether to continue or not. We had heard that St. Louis was close to flooding and that the roads were closed. Even though it hasn’t rained the past few days, it is the snow and rain which occurred over the past two months that is the problem. We finally decided to continue until we couldn’t go any further and then return home, sooooo away we went. Since we had driven directly from Joplin to Carthage, we had some back tracking to do. We were on our way to Webb City when Phyllis said she...
