Oct 28, 2011 - Union Covered Bridge State Historic Site

Our next stop was to see the Union Covered Bridge. It is near Paris, Missouri. The bridge was in danger The bridge is the only surviving example in Missouri of the Burr-arch truss system. It was built in 1871 to span the Elk Fork of the Salt River and it served travelers on the Paris-to-Fayette Road through Monroe County for 99 years. It is now closed to traffic. From Ray Behrens (COE) Campground, near Perry, Missouri, 123 miles NW of St. Louis I guess that we are just getting L..A..Z..Y!!!!!! Or, we are just getting better & better adjusted to living life doing as much or as little as we want each day. It was easy enough to shed the burden of the work-a-day world, it has been a little bit slower adopting the mindset that we don't have to be out doing sightseeing or other "touristy/ retiree" things everyday.
