Apr 4, 2012 - Civilization for a few minutes
Cell phone use plus computer search equals driving 20 miles to the Outlet Mall at Osage Beach, MO. That's okay, we will shop at "Harry and David's" while we are here. We arrived at my mother's in rural Miller County Sunday afternoon. Monday we drove my sister to the orthopedic fracture specialist in Columbia where she received good news. She learned that 85 percent of collarbone fractures heal on their own. If you are in the other 15 percent then surgery is done to place a metal place and screws. She has an appointment in a month to see if...

Jun 17, 2011 - Day in Hospital
Glen and I spent the day in the hospital room with mom. Mom is doing better; appetite good, removal of IV tubes, occupational therapy, visitors. Doctor told her realistically she would go home on Monday; if she was up dancing a jig on Sunday she could go home then! :} She still has wobbly legs and will get some physical therapy over the week end. We met my sister Jan and husband Bruce and their family for dinner tonight at a local home-cooking type of cafe. The food was delicious and the company even better. We got back to the hospital...

Jun 15, 2011 - Mom is....Perky!
There is finally some bright news on my mom's condition. Today at noon she got "real" food, solid food, for lunch ..and dinner. That perked her up! Her blood levels are steadily climbing. Yah! Other levels are out of whack some, but that is not surprising...potassium, blood sugar. She was able to sit in a chair this afternoon. More perkiness! She is alert and looking better. Ya! Her favorite nurse is on duty tonight...Chris, about mid-20's and handsome. Mom asked him is he was married. "no, maam, I am single and enjoying it!" But he calls...

Jun 14, 2011 - uPDATE ON MOM
We were at the hospital from seven a.m. until 9:30 p.m. Mom is still in ICU. She had three scans/tests to determine the source of her losing blood, but all of the results were negative. Still no determination of the source of loss. In the morning she has one more test....swallow a pill with a camera inside [the pill is the size of a capsule]! Didn't know there was such a thing. The nurse/tech will then use a scanner on the outside of the stomach to scan what the camera transmits. Wondering what happens to the camera? You are right...it...

Jun 13, 2011 - Change in Plans
A definite change of plans...my mom was admitted to hospital this morning. She spent the day in a regular room but about six o'clock was taken to ICU. She is losing blood but the source is unknown at this time. She received three units of blood this evening and looked better. Mom is scheduled for tests in the morning. The mh is parked on the hospital parking lot. Glen and I are spending the night in the mh. We will go to ICU early...6:45 to be there when tests begin. More tomorrow. Prayers please.

May 19, 2011 - FMCA
FMCA, Family Motor Coach Association. Jim and I decided to join this group. Several of our friends in south Texas are members. We found a local chapter in the St. Louis area. Their chapter name is “Gateway Getaways”. The weekend of May 19 – 22 we joined this group at a rally in Osage Beach, MO at the Lake of the Ozarks. What an awesome group. They made us feel so welcome. Don and Janet took us under their wings and we did most of our carpooling with them to the different events. The “wagon master” or host has an itinerary planned for the...

May 17, 2011 - This Isn't Kansas...
We pulled into a nice RV park after about 4 hours of driving hilly roads. Hyw 54 is in pretty good shape in these here parts, but very hilly and twisting. We averaged 50 to 55 MPH which is a good speed on these roads. We are hanging here to replenish supplies and the captain. He has been driving for six straight days. We found some decent tennis courts in a small town about 10 miles from the park. We played for a while. We were both a little rusty and I was stiff. I still have a slightly strained butt muscle from two weeks ago during a...

Sep 18, 2010 - Day 21 - Lake of the Ozarks
A wonderful, relaxing day on the Lake! The weather was beautiful - clear skies and warm temperatures. Only a slight chop on the lake so the ride on the water was very nice. Pauline and Connie took the wave runner out in the morning for a short ride. Pauline was mostly nervous at first, then her excitement took over and she had a wonderful time. Mike did one of his typical klutzy moves and fell over a step. At first he thought he may have broken his small toe, but it's recovering too fast for that. (It sure is an ugly color!) In the evening...

Sep 17, 2010 - Day 20 - Travel
This was only a half-day of travel, as we drove from Omaha to Osage Beach, Missouri (Lake of the Ozarks). We met Pauline's two sisters, Janette and Connie at Connie and Kevin's condo on the Lake. Later in the evening, Kevin and our nephew Morgan met us there. We had a very nice day because we were still "recovering" from the long drive across South Dakota.

May 23, 2009 - Lake of the Ozarks
Our next stop was at the Ozark Trails Family Campground in Linn Creek. Doug's cousin, Glenn and his wife Julie have a stake in the property and manage the business. It is a beautiful RV park and keeps them busy from early morning till late at night. We arrived on Saturday and they were in the middle of checking in campers and tending to the requests of other guests. We invited them for a cookout and even though they came for dinner, they were still manning the busy phones and keeping an eye on the whole place. Their managerial style is calm...

Jul 5, 2008 - Osage Beach, MO
We just spent the last four days with my sister and brother-in-law at their lake house on Lake of the Ozarks. We were joined by two of my nephews and their families and Josie, the golden retriever, 15 in all counting the dog. We took a few boat rides and mostly enjoyed watching all the other boaters from the deck of their house or their boat dock. We arrived on the 2nd, a day before all the others. We went to their house for the evening. It was a little hot and humid when we first got there, but cooled off nicely. We went for a sunset...

Oct 10, 2007 - Osage Beach, Missouri.
We really love this rv park, but the traffic in this small city is unbelievable. The population of this city is 3,949, but we were told there are 80,000 2nd homers here. There are condo's everywhere. This is not really our idea of a good time. What was I thinking when I made reservations here for 16 days? The plus side is that it is beautiful here. Not only at the park, but also at the Tonka State Park and the lake-side, when you can get near it. Every little inlet is totally built up with condos. It is hard to get very close to the water....
