When we left Jay, OK and going to our next campsite our route took us by Noel, MO where Jennifer Ronson works at Bluff Dwellers Cavern. So we stopped. We got a personal tour by Jennifer. The cavern is known at the Best Kept Secret in Missouri. Missouri has 6,000 caves. This one is unique in that it still has lots of living animals in the cave. We saw salamanders, bats, salamander nymphs, there were frogs there but we couldn't find one. We made it to Noel, Missouri where we planned a weekend camping trip with our daughter Lauren and her husband, Jeremiah along with our grandkids, Christian and Faith! We arrived in the early afternoon and got set up in our campsite and had time to wander around to familiarize ourselves with the camp. It is called River Ranch Resort and they offer float trips down the Elk River. We chose to make Noel, Missouri one of our stops because of Dave. His grandparents owned a home here for many years and Dave lived with them for a year when he was a child. So this turned into a stroll down memory lane. Approaching this little town is a real treat for the eyes. It is lush and green, the Elk river runs along the road and there are serious rock bluffs suspended above your roof as you drive along the highway.
