Jul 20, 2018 - Were you wondering where we are??
Have you been wondering where we have been?? You would not be totally wrong to think we may have just melted into the scenery in this sweltering heat of Missouri! But actually we have been having fun! Let me go back to yesterday (Thursday) morning . . . Thursday morning we were happily settled in to a sweet little hunting lodge/cyclist accommodation in Everton, Mo after a gruelling long hot day! Good thing we are early risers as a ready mix truck showed up at 6:00am! To say it was a surprise would be an understatement! It was barely even...Jump to full entry
Jun 27, 2017 - Day 53 - Ash Grove to Marshfield, MO
After almost a week off the ride, my TransAmerica adventure resumed with today’s hilly ride to Marshfield, Missouri. The ride was 48 miles with 3,714’ of ascent. After 6 days off the bike and 6 days of eating like I was still riding, I was a little sluggish today. Marshfield, Missouri, population 7,138 at elevation 1,493’, was “platted” in 1855. Marshfield is in the heart of the Missouri Ozarks and has the highest elevation of any town on Interstate 44 east of the Rocky Mountains. Edwin P. Hubble, a man who changed our view of the universe...Jump to full entry
Jan 31, 2016 - Marshfield Missouri
Pulled out of Terre Haute and the weather was still great, in the 60 degree range but still fighting the wind. Our drive today will take us to Marshfield Missouri for the nightly stop at the RV Express 66 which is just off the expressway. That way we are not driving around streets and country road looking for the campground. Weather was still good other than the wind was getting a little cool by the time we parked, still in the high 50’s but the wind chill was in the 40’s. Had a nice spot, we were to only ones in the campground and the...Jump to full entry
Jul 22, 2012 - Day before our trip
Its 4 minutes until 5:00 p.m. and both of us have not packed our clothes yet!!! YIKES! Talk about waiting until the last minute. Thats okay. Between all the traveling we have become expert packers and can 'git er done' pretty quickly... Wait.. did I just use the phrase.. git er done? Oh geez.. I need to get out of the country and into the city with a quickness!!!! Tomorrow we rise and shine bright and early and head out for a long road trip. Not sure if we are making the full trip yet or stopping half way. We are going to play that one by...Jump to full entry
Jul 20, 2012 - 2.5 Days Out.....
Today we started on the fun job of packing. Why does it seem that when you pack for vacation you have NOTHING to wear??? What do we do the rest of our time? Just wear crappy clothes?? Sheesh! I despise packing... Now onto the other fun things when going on vacation... Cleaning house, preparing to-do lists, don't forget lists, errands to run lists..... Imma need a vacation from the lists!! Sigh... Only a few more days and then on the road we go!Jump to full entry
Aug 18, 2011 - Ozarks Battlefields Westbound
As there was a little rain this morning, we slept in (yes!) and left the coach at @ 10:30 a.m. Today was a driving tour of the Ozarks Battlegrounds as presented in Tour Loop Five: A Tour of Southwest Missouri in Gregory Wolk's book, "A Tour Guide to Missouri's Civil War". We traveled through Springfield to Marshfield and Hartville, MO before a side trip (at my request) to Mansfield to see the Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Home where the "Little House Books" were written. In Wolk's book, I found the following biographic sketch...Jump to full entry
Not very exciting, as far as RV parks go - basically a paved lot with paved sites (no trees), but boy are the owners nice! We met some other RE investors there who are moving to the area to invest in RE (plus take advantage of the great school system in Marshfield), and they indicated that this will be a great place to invest - we'll probably be back very soon! http://www.rvexpressrvpark.com/Jump to full entry
