When we left the hotel at 8:15 this morning, we wondered about the haze that was hanging heavy in the air. We didn't think that Omaha/Council Bluffs was producing that much smog!!! Then we saw the cause...a VERY large high energy coal plant (MidAmerican Energy) just south of our location. It lined both sides of the road! We were heading south on I 29 and passed a few wildlife areas with ponds. There was a variety of birds, even though we couldn't identify them because of distance, foliage, and speed of our vehicle.. Westward Ho September 2012

Jul 16, 2011 - First Day

Today we started our trip to raft the Middle Fork of the Salmon River in Idaho. We will be traveling from home to Colorado to join up with Debbie and Tom. We will have to help Debbie get ready for the trip since Tom will still be working. The trip is to last 7 days on the river and will have 20 people. We are responsible for planning two days worth of meals. Guess we will find out more details once we arrive in Colorado. We are taking our time driving out. Today we drove a little over 300 miles and have camped in Lincoln Trail State Park....
