Aug 9, 2011 - The fish that didn't get away

What a luxury not having to rely on the air-conditioner last night as we were able to keep the windows open and enjoy fresh cool air at last. This morning we woke up to 69 degrees – sheer bliss! After the park sounded the 7am ‘start fishing’ siren, Darren went off with rod in hand keen to catch his first trout of the day. After about an hour Lynne discovered water gushing down the length of the motor home and reluctantly had to get Darren back out of the river to use his magic ‘mend-all’ hands and mend yet another plumbing leak! Aug 8, 2011 - Discovering fishing heaven at Montauk

We toyed with the idea of staying another day at Big Spring as we had power once again and would be able to enjoy the luxury of some cable TV, but decided to carry on further north to the Montauk State Park Missouri before the next storm was upon us. Arriving just as the storm hit we were glad to safely arrive and be set up in our spot. Once the sun shone through we set out to explore our new surroundings and were excited to find an abundance of trout in the river. May 21, 2011 - Big Piney Float Trip

After nine months of being a good husband and father and working hard on my army and graduate school, Minhee gave me a kitchen pass for the weekend. Me and my friend Dave loaded up the canoe and headed to the Missouri Ozarks for a float trip down the Big Piney River. The Ozarks are a great place for canoe trips. The geology of the Ozarks is a broken limestone plateau cut by crystal clear springs and creeks. The creeks all have large limestone bluffs rising from the banks.
