May 7, 2013 - Manhattan to Kansas City, MO
May 3-6 Thursday evening the wedding events began with a BBQ at the Farley’s magnificent 100 acre ranch. Very spacious and open range. One of the horses nearly walked in the door but then patiently looked on at the festivities. John and Laurie Farley have some very interesting taxidermy throughout the house. One was a bear which Bob sidled up to for a picture. That man loves his bears!! One of the big concerns today is the wind/rain and the deep mud that is in a huge tent erected for the reception. The groomsmen worked nearly all day...

B>Beginning Mileage 35511 Ending Mileage 35749 Kansas City East KOA 303 NE 3rd St. Oak Grove, MO 64075 816-690-0660 9/9.5/8 We were up early and went to fuel up and refill water jugs then were on the road. It was a nice sunny day with temperature reaching the low seventies. The campground is nice with level sites and some trees but is right on I-70 so a lot of road noise. But it is the first KOA we have stayed at that ended up under $30/nt. After settling in we just morphed.

Oct 23, 2012 - Clinton, Missouri
Today was a long travel day, about 300 miles. We are resting for the night at the Cozy Corner RV Park in Clinton, Missouri. I had to put the city down as a city nearby because the trip journal maps did not recognize Clinton. I sent them a note letting them know Clinton was not on the map, I am waiting for them to fix it, then I will correct the address. We will be on the road again early in the morning. I am adding a few pictures taken through the windshield on the way. I saw a truck at the gas station where we stopped to fill up pulling a...

Sep 12, 2012 - A visit with Dave & Debbie Ludwig
Before our arrival in Sedalia, MO to attend the 2012 Escapade, Dave and Debbie Ludwig (Dave now president of Family Campers and RVers - FCRV) invited us for a night stay at their place. Dave while his wife Debbie worked fixed us a wonderful spaghetti dinner with salad and garlic bread. His wife Debbie brought home a wonderful Apple Pie for desert. We had a wonderful visit and a good night sleep in our motorhome on their property before our early departure in the morning. Thanks guys for the hospitality.

Sep 10, 2012 - Basswood RV Resort, Missouri
Even though it was another wonderful day of travel we were ready to stop and rest this evening so we could get out and stretch our legs. Our spot for tonight is Basswood Country RV Resort near Kansas City, Missouri. This is a lovely RV park, despite the very steep entrance driveway, and we are parked in a nice long pull-thru for the evening. With all the pretty walking trails here I almost wish we didn’t have to be at New Horizons tomorrow so we could have more time to explore this area. Perhaps we will be back through this way again...

Aug 16, 2012 - Kansas City, we are here.
Kansas City, Missouri We made it to Kansas City yesterday the 15th. While driving in, I saw both the Royals and Chiefs stadiums. We checked and the Royals were in town and were playing the Oakland A’s. We got back into the car and headed down to the stadium..got some free shirts and saw the home team beat the A’s. Beautiful stadium but it was 90 degrees till after 8:00 PM.. We enjoyed the game and the experience. They were still showing reruns of the George Brett home run that was called back due to excessive resin on the bat…baseball...

Jul 17, 2012 - Seeing Kansas City with a Local Guide
Yesterday was busy! We went to the post office to get our mail which was sent to us from Texas. Then we went to the bank and I got a haircut. After taking care of these things, we went to see our friend, Steve Jones. We knew Steve and his wife Jan in Wayne, PA when I worked at the American Baptist national offices and we were members of Central Baptist Church where Steve was the pastor. We didn't see each other very often except at denominational meetings until the last few years. It's been great to have these visits. Steve and Jan are...

Jul 15, 2012 - Cooling Off in Blue Springs Lake
After a four and a half hour drive from Branson to the Kansas City area, we found our campground at Lake Jacomo, which is in Lee's Summit, MO, a nice suburb of Kansas City. The lakes and facilities like the campground were created by the Army Corps of Engineers. Our campsite is spacious, has a lake view and, most of all in this heat, is totally shaded. We set up camp and had to put pieces of wood under a back wheel to level the coach, but being old hands at this, everything is set just right. I suggested we go swimming at a beach a few...

Jul 8, 2012 - Krossing Kansas
We had a wonderful dinner party yesterday at the Hammond house. Thank you to Kay, Dale and Kelli. Visiting with friends and famiIy was a great culmination to our time in CO. We also send big hugs to Ada for her hospitality. We departed early and ended our day in Independence, MO. We are sorry we do not have time to pay our respects to Harry S. Truman whose presidential library is nearby. In Goodland, KS, I spoke to a worker on her lunch break at Wendy's. She looked to be in her very late 40s. She said that she hoped the rain would stop the...

Jun 27, 2012 - St. Louis, MO to Kansas City, MO
Kansas City greeted us with more record heat! We left St. Louis where it was 114 degrees on Sunday and brought it to Kansas City! Since it was over 100 degrees when we arrived, we stayed inside the A/C most of the time. We did have a great campground called The Campus that was surrounded by churches (Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and Community of Christ) in Independence, MO – a suburb of KC. Independence is also the home of President Harry S. Truman. We were able to have supper with our niece, Summer - 2nd stop on the "niece tour". She...

May 30, 2012 - Kansas City for BBQ!
Betty had to work off and on this morning, so we stayed at the camper and relaxed a little. In the afternoon, we made a trip over to Kansas City to visit an old friend of Betty's - Steve, and his wife, Donna. Before going to dinner, Steve took us on a brief tour of some parts of the city. We really wish we had more time in this area after seeing all the interesting places he showed us. Of particular interest was the National World War I memorial and museum located here. For dinner, we ate at a great BBQ place called Jack's Stack, famous...
