Aug 1, 2010 - Old Greenville

This area is filled with history. Walking around the campground you come to Union Cemetary which has head stones dating back to the early 1800's. It is presently taken care of by volunteers. Settlers arrived in the early 1800's to farm and cut timber. There are markers depicting Civil War Battles in 1861. Old Greenville is listed on the National Register of Historical Places. We woke this morning to heavy fog and my pictures look very ghostly! This is a beautiful park and I am sorry our stay was so short. Tomorrow we will travel to...

Jul 31, 2010 - Heading South

We were up and gone by 8 AM and leaving the gas station by 8:30. There are no interstates that will get us where we are going today, so we are on the 2 lane roads which always take longer but usually more scenic. We arrived at Greenville Campground at Wappapello Lake in Greenville, MO about lunchtime. I know this because the Ranger was at lunch. This is a Corp of Engineer built park and is absolutly beautiful. With Mom's America the Beautiful card, we stay here at half price. There were lots of open sites even on a weekend.
