Sep 24, 2019 - Turkey Creek RV Village

We Decided to swing by Branson but on the way, Marci's transmission went out, she couldn't drive faster than 10 to 15 MPH. It will be checked out tomorrow but it looks like the transmission will need repair or replacement. We will keep you informed. The Coach broke down in Arkansas so Marci and Ellie are staying with me and Cotton for a few days and we came on to Branson. Good News! Marci's Motorhome is fixed and is now in Branson. The problem was not the transmission after all. It was a crushed air filter and air conduit on the engine. At...

North to Alaska 2019

Sep 22, 2019 - Branson, MO

In getting ready to leave today, we had torrential rains with flash flood warnings everywhere in the area. Our camp site flooded in a matter of 15 minutes and we had to undo and pull out in several inches of water. Not a great way to start the day. From Nevada we headed south on I-49 to I-44 to US 60 to US 65 into Branson, MO where we stayed at America's Best Campground. This is an excellent park with wonderful helpful staff. As this is our first visit to Branson, the staff here was very accommodating. They made all our show reservation and...

Fall 2019

Sep 21, 2019 - Branson, Missouri

On Saturday, 9/21m we arrived at Branson, Missouri and the Armed Forces Vacation Club did us good again. (AFVClub.com). I highly recommend them even though their prices have been going up over the years (probably because Wyndham bought them out). We paid $299 for this unit and got another seven day stay at another resort in town for FREE, but those $299 specials are a lot less than they use to be. NOTE: Since Wyndham has taken over AFVClub, I expect to see less customer service, less choices and much, much higher prices in the years to...

Jun 22, 2019 - Branson, MO

I left Lawrence behind and headed to Parker, Kansas were I visited a first cousin and several second cousins was a nice time, then it was on to Branson, MO for a submarine reunion with members of the last submarine I was on in 1973, the USS TULLIBEE SSN 597. The reunion was for any one who sailed on it from the launching to when it was decommissioned, there were 653 sailors that sailed on it during that time, there were 36 of the crew there, 8 that sailed with me was a nice time chatting about long ago times. The USS TULLIBEE SSN 597 was...

Another adventure

Oct 21, 2018 - Eureka Springs & Branson

Because of rain on the horizon, we decided to move on toward Branson today. We stopped in the little quaint town of Eureka Springs. We did some window shopping but it was actually too cold to just wander around so we found a cozy cafe and had hot coffee and an early lunch. Then, it was an easy run to Branson. They have improved the road system around here so much there really was no traffic tie ups at all. Also in our favor is this is kind of a shoulder period for them. Summer is over and they are about ready to start the Christmas shows....

Adventures for 2018

Oct 17, 2018 - Last day with Pat and Bridget

This adventure started last Monday evening when Pat and Bridget pulled in next to us here in America's Best Campground. We had dinner that night and talked about what all we wanted to do while we were here. On Tuesday we started in earnest (Sue and Bridget)trying to decide what was a priority to see and then when could we get the best seats and what nights were best for us. Now here is the score for the last nine nights. Dinners out...NINE. Shows...SEVEN. Needless to say throw in the days we went to Silver Dollar City (2), Springfield (Bass...

Oct 16, 2018 - Must be Tuesday...that means the Texas Tenors

Today is Tuesday. Let's see, that means tonight we will see the Texas Tenors in the Moon River Theatre. Sue and Bridget are looking forward to seeing the show and Pat and I do not know what to expect..but I am getting ahead of myself. After the early morning (ha,ha, it was 9:00) nature walk. It was cool (the low 40's) and Ziva was not really wanting to stay out too long. Upon our return I had breakfast and spent some time drinking coffee and surfing the web while Sue fixed her oatmeal and ate at her computer. About 11:00 we got a text from...

Oct 15, 2018 - Cloudy, Cool, Mexican Food and Pierce Arrow

Up early but not too early. It was a cool 39 degrees. Ziva and I prepared to walk. I was bundled and she in her fur coat. She was a great girl. The walk was less than 10 minutes. Thanx Z...We got the Bus warm and enjoyed staying in and warm. Several rigs pulled out. It looked like about 40% of the park emptied out. I mention this because when we came back late this afternoon the park is almost full. They replaced everyone who left and added more. And today is the 15th of October. Around noon we headed out to take care of several items on...

Oct 14, 2018 - Overcast, cool and Bass Pro...the mothership

Up early...on a Sunday, to make sure we helped Pat mark something off his bucketlist. He has always wanted to visit the Bass Pro Shop home, or as I call it the "mothership". We were out of here by 8:00 a.m. The first stop was the Belgian Waffle shop on Hwy 76. Sue and I have been eating there since the 80's. We think it is great and as of now...so do Pat and Bridget. It is great when you have a sure fire place to eat that never disappoints. So far this trip we have done that with Florentino's and Belgian Waffle. We have spent years doing...

Oct 13, 2018 - Some Rain, Some Football...and another show

Well it was cool, damp and spitting rain for our nature walk this morning. Ziva took a cue and the trip did not last as long as usual. The temperature was a balmy 48 degrees. Not a big deal because it warmed up to a whole 53 degrees. The biggest variation was the degree of the rain. Some spit, some drizzle, some just straight rain and combinations of all of the listed plus anything else Mother Nature could decide to try. We stayed in until a little after noon. We headed to the outlet malls to do a LITTLE shopping. Maybe a few items we were...

Oct 12, 2018 - Nothing but Six..

Six was all we did today...if you do not take into account we spent some time at Florentino's. Both of us were exhausted from the last three days so it was a good day to do little. I took Ziva on her nature walk around 8:00 a.m. The good thing about cold rainy weather is that Ziva does not want to stay out as long as in good weather. Anyway I really made it hard on Ziva when we got back to the Bus. I closed off the door to the bedroom so Sue could sleep a little longer. Ziva normally goes in and jumps on the bed with Sue when we return from...

Oct 11, 2018 - Oh, what a Day...

I will paraphrase the Four Seasons's song of "Oh, What a Night". It has been a really active and long day. I was up about 6:30 and was back from the morning "nature walk" with Ziva by 7:15. Then we hustled to get ready to leave by 8:15 a.m. We were ready on time, as were Pat and Bridget. So off to Silver Dollar City and breakfast. We arrived and were eating before 9:00 a.m. We were ready for the opening ceremony and the flag salute. Then off to get Sue and Bridget signed up for the cooking class at 2:00 p.m. Then it was off to move around...
