Dec 3, 2012 - Visit to oldest working hand pulled Ferry
It was a nice day so we took a Bike ride to Los Ebanos Texas where the oldest operational had pulled Ferry is, it carries 2 cars at a time for the 100 yard ride across the Rio Grande, it's a way for the people on the US side to visit their relatives in Mexico. We didn't get a picture of the Boarder Entry on either side but they were there. The area around Los Ebanos looks like you are in Mexico, very poor. The guy at the Ferry Fee Booth charged us $1 ea to walk down to the Ferry, when we came back up the Boarder Patrol yelled at us to check...

Nov 19, 2012 - Day 7 & 8 - Tunica, Mississippi
Leaving Cave-In Rock, we were unable to take the ferry across the Ohio River because it was so foggy that they couldn't run the ferry. We had to drive about an hour out of our way to get to a bridge and when we crossed it, it was still extremely foggy so we would have still been waiting for the ferry. We finally stopped at a McDonald's for a quick breakfast and used the free WiFi to locate a Guy Fieri BBQ restaurant in Memphis for lunch. When we arrived, we found that it didn't open until 4! So we had a rough trip to Tunica! We arrived in...

Nov 12, 2012 - Looking for birds in the area
Road around the area coast to see these birds, they are so pretty and graceful. It was very cool today, around 69 or 71 with strong wind. Not sure of the names of these birds yet, haven't gotten a book on them, hope to go to the National Refuge tomorrow. Tuesday 6th we visited the National Refuge, wish it had been a better day, very windy and cold plus I still didn't feel that great. Real nice Workampers at the visitor center, one lady was from Montana and the other from Oregon. There were quite a lot of Whooping Crans but they were too far...

Nov 11, 2012 - Port Arcansas and Mustang Island
We visited Mustang Island today, rode a Ferry from Aransas Pass to Largest town on Mustang Island, Port Aransas, it took all of 4 or 5 minutes. It was very windy, the picture of the water shows how rough the Gulf Of Mexico was. On the way back to campground we rode by the Historic Fulton Mansion, built in 1877 noteworthy architectural style, unique construction methods and advanced mechanical systems — which featured gas lighting, central heating and indoor plumbing with hot and cold running water. The house sits about a block off the water,...

Nov 6, 2012 - Victoria Texas
Got to Victoria around 4pm, long trip today and had to come through Houston, must have been 40 or so miles across, I really hate going through big cities, when possible we avoid them. Really nice campground and the owners were super nice, the guy leads you to your site, uses sanitizer on water spigots and sewer hookups then gives you a thank you note for staying with them. This campground has Ducks, not sure of the breeds.

Nov 4, 2012 - Vicksburg MS
Our first visit to Vicksburg MS, touring the Battle ground was great, you enter the Union first, there were numerous monuments from Northern states. It was a long drive before we entered the Confederate side. Wasn't too impressed with town of Vicksburg. Hope to leave here today and head to Texas, it has been raining, waiting for it to quit.
