There is just something about Mississippi that takes me back to the civil rights era, and not in good way. I will get back to that later. We left Frank James Park in Alabama reluctantly. As usual, I was wishing we had something like that near us in Wilmington. There were about 7 nature trails and naturally I got lost. I was trying to get back to the campsite and ended up at the front gate. Joey is no Lassie. He lets me walk anyplace I want to with no barks of warning. Sleeping outside last night was wonderful. Takin the Slow Road

May 30, 2008 - Natchez State Park, MS

On Friday, May 30th, we continued south and repeated the two previous days. Small hikes, nice sights, interesting facts about the history of the Natchez Trace. We highly recommend this drive to anyone. It is a pleasant 50 mph drive through meadows, farmlands, and tons of history of how merchants brought their goods down from the north, and then after selling everything including the wood from their boats, they would walk back north until time to do it all over again.
